S. Korea's Paradisco casino sales drop slightly in March

Casino sales at Paradise, South Korea's foreign-only casino operator, fell 0.9 percent in March from a year earlier, data showed Wednesday on the Korea Exchange.

It made a profit of about 50.63 billion won ($44.6 million) compared to about 51.07 billion won in March last year.

Table game sales in March 2018 were flat at nearly 47.58 billion won in March this year. Machine game sales in Paradise were slightly above 3.05 billion won, down 11.3% year-on-year.

The company's monthly update does not provide a comment on why sales fluctuated year-over-year.

Paradise's total casino revenue in the first quarter of 2019 was about 162.09 billion won, up 9.3% year-over-year.

In the year to March 31, table revenue rose 9.6% year-on-year to about 150.64 billion won. In the first three months of the year, machinery revenue rose 5.9% to about 11.44 billion won.

TABLE DROP – For the first quarter of 2019, the amount of cash exchanged for chips by customers at the table, it was slightly above W1.62 trillion, up 19.1% year-over-year.

Paradise's latest casino figures are based on the results of four venues operated by its casino business division. Walkerhill in Seoul, Jeju Grand in Jeju Island, Busan Casino in the southern port city of Busan, and Paradise City in Incheon (pictured) are near the main international airport serving the capital city of Seoul.
