Nearly 40 casinos in Macau reportedly earned about $11.3 million
The figure represents an increase of about 4.5% compared with about $10.9 million the previous week, according to a report by Asia Gaming Brief, which cites information from major Asian broker Sanford Sea Bernstein Limited. The sources also described improvements as China's metropolitan city of Chengdu ended its forced lockdown under rules requiring people wishing to travel from Macau to the mainland to present a negative coronavirus nucleic acid test (NAT) completed within the previous 48 hours.

Vitali Umanski of Sanford C Bernstein Limited reports that the latest figures come as Macau begins to celebrate this year's edition of the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival, which began Saturday. In addition, the experienced analyst described the prospects for the recovery of the domestic casino industry, which will go into the week-long Golden Week from the first day of October, as "magnetic," with only about 16,000 tourists expected to enter the former Portuguese residence during the three-day holiday

"Visits to Macau should remain weak until people feel confident about travel and restrictions ease. The pace of total game sales recovery in September and October is likely to be slowed by China's travel policy."
