Son Heung-min has forgiven Rodrigo Bentancur, putting the racism case to rest for now.

On Tuesday (Nov. 20), Son Heung-min responded to Bentancur's racist remarks. Bentancur appeared on a TV program in Uruguay on the 15th and asked for Son's jersey, saying, "Sonny (Son's nickname)? Or Sonny's cousin, they look almost the same," he said. It was an overtly racist comment that was widely publicized and controversial.

Bentancur posted an apology on his personal social media saying, "Brother Sonny, I apologize for what happened, it was just a very bad joke! You know what I love about you, I didn't mean to disrespect you or hurt you or anyone else, I love you," but the controversy didn't go away. He simply chalked up his actions to being "friendly" and didn't apologize or talk about how to prevent it from happening again.

If you think it's culture, it's even worse. In the UK, there was a lot of criticism, but Bentancur and Tottenham didn't say anything. Neither did Son Heung-min. "I've been in touch with Bentancur," Son said, "He made a mistake and apologized. He realized it and apologized. He didn't intentionally say anything offensive. We are brothers and nothing 먹튀검증 has changed. We overcame this and became one. We will come together again in the preseason and fight for the club."

He didn't call it a game or culture like Ventancourt did, but clearly called it a "mistake." He also apologized and said that he and Ventancourt are still friends and have no problems. As a captain, it was impressive to see him make amends and show solidarity at the same time. It was the kind of behavior and words that you would expect from the big man himself.

"Following the video of Bentancur's interview and the player's public apology, the club is providing support to ensure a positive outcome to this matter. This includes additional training for all players in line with our goals of diversity, equality and inclusion. We fully support captain Son Heung-min as he draws a line under this incident and allows the team to focus on the upcoming new season. We are very proud of our diverse global fan base and squad. Discrimination of any kind has no place in our club, our game or the wider society."

With both Son Heung-min and Tottenham stepping up, the Bentancur racism controversy appears to be over for now. Bentancur has been called up to Uruguay's national team for the Copa America. Son Heung-min is taking a break. After the Copa America, Son and Bentancur will travel to South Korea for a tour. We'll have to wait and see how the Korean fans treat Bentancur.
