Paris Saint-Germain preparing for 'new era'
Paris Saint-Germain are preparing for a new era after the departure of Kylian Mbappe (25). They have identified Hvitsa Kvartachelia (23-Napoli) as their top priority to replace Mbappe and are expected to go all out to sign him this summer. Napoli are still trying to re-sign Kvarachelia in a bid to change his mind.
As French outlet Le Parisien reported on Wednesday (June 23), "Paris Saint-Germain have focused on promising players rather than big names. Kvarachelia is a big name, but he fits their criteria. He is a flanker who could provide a right-footed option alongside Bradley Barcola (21)."
Paris Saint-Germain's pursuit of Mbappe has become more concrete after he officially announced his intention to leave the club. Raphael Leroy (24-AC Milan), Marcus Rashford (26-Manchester United), and Luis Dias (27-Liverpool) had previously been mentioned as possible replacements, but Kvarachelia's name has emerged this month.
Paris Saint-Germain have plenty of left-footed attacking options in the form of Lee Kang-In (23), Marco Asensio (28) and Ousmane Dembele (27), but Barca is the only one who utilizes his right foot well. For Paris Saint-Germain, who need a player like Mbappe who can generate points in the opposition half with a variety of skills and a devastating right-footed kick, Kabaratshelia is a very attractive alternative.
Paris Saint-Germain have already contacted Kvarachelia's representatives and have received a positive response from the player. “Kabarachelia is very sensitive about the interest of Paris Saint-Germain,” French journalist Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport reported on social media, adding that “Paris Saint-Germain and Kabarachelia's agent 토토사이트 have met.”
Amidst the fierce interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli are considering a massive pay rise and a buyout clause to keep hold of Kvarachelia. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis (74-Italy) does not want to lose both Victor Osimhen (25) and Kvarachelia this summer, and had originally planned to sell Osimhen and reorganize the squad around Kvarachelia.
With Napoli likely to miss out on European competition next season, Kvarachelia's agent demanded a three-fold increase in his weekly wages. Napoli offered less than the asking price, which caused a significant disagreement. Napoli's priority is to keep him, but some have suggested that if they fail to re-sign him, they will eventually sell him this summer.
The former Rubin Kazan and Dinamo Batumi player has become a world-class flanker since joining Napoli in 2022. He was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Italian Serie A last season after scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists, and has followed that up with 11 goals and six assists this season. The Georgia international also made history by leading his country to UEFA Euro 2024 qualification.
