Shim Sung-young's shooting distance is increasing

“It's more than I could have imagined,” he says, but the most surprising thing for Shim (32, 165 cm) isn't just the amount of training.

After joining Asan Woori Bank, Shim sweats heavily during an acclimatization training session at Asan Sunshin Gymnasium. This is Sim's first offseason training away from KB Stars since his debut in the 2010-2011 season.

Woori Bank has been known for its intense training regimen since 2012, when coach Lee Sati-woo took over. The uncompromising training regimen has helped the team develop players and build a solid organization.

It's no exaggeration to say that the Woori dynasty began in training. “It's new,” said Shim Sung-young, who is in his first offseason training with Woori. It's more than I imagined. It's not easy to have both quantity and quality in training...” he says with a bitter smile.

The camaraderie that comes with the grueling training is also a big plus. “The hard training makes the players stronger and more determined,” says Shim. There are many new players, but the team has become stronger. I think our concentration level has also increased,” he says of the Asan acclimatization training.

Shim was most surprised by something else. It was the fact that the coach had memorized the habits of the opposing team's players. “He knew everything 메이저사이트 about my habits, my habits. He knew which direction I like to go and what kind of play I prefer,” says Shim.

Coach Satellite also gave him drills to take his game to the next level. They practiced shooting from the so-called deep three zone. To overcome the handicap of his short stature, he needed to increase his shooting distance. “When you fake from the three-point line, the space is too narrow. You have to be able to shoot from a step further back.” Said coach Satish Woo.

In practice, Shim has been working to improve his shooting distance by practicing from outside the lane, even from the corner. “My coach is very specific about my shots. Unlike in the past when I only shot in static situations, I'm starting to work on moving shots, handoffs, and everything else,” he said.

Neither Shim Sung-young nor Woori Bank are considered weak. They are spending the offseason with the determination to overturn the world's judgment, but in the end, a bright future can only come from a fulfilling today.

Shim Sung-young also said, “The moment you train, it doesn't matter how weak you are. It depends on how hard you train and how much you trust and follow the coach. It's important to do your best today, not tomorrow. If you believe in the coach and follow him, the team will be able to go in a good direction.”
