Description

The Havari Guesthouse is a stunning accommodation in east Iceland, across a fjord from the town of Djupivogur. Travellers to this remote part of the country will love its tranquility, incredible surroundings, and cosy ambience.

Location & Nearby

The Havari Guesthouse is a perfectly placed escape in the Eastfjords, close to many major attractions but completely immersed in nature. It overlooks one of the magical fjords that make this region so world-renowned and is otherwise surrounded by countryside and mountains. There are plenty of wonderful hiking trails in the area that you can embark on.

Djupivogur is the most notable nearby settlement and is thirty minute’s drive away. Here, you can find groceries, service stations, restaurants and wonderful cultural sites such as the Eggs of Merry Bay. The region’s largest town, meanwhile, Egilsstadir, is just over an hour away, from which you can access the Vok Baths geothermal spa, the country’s largest forest of Hallormsstadaskogar and the magical Lake Lagarfljot.

Havari Guesthouse is located directly on the Ring Road, making it a perfect choice for those circumnavigating the country. After spending a night on the South Coast, it is easy to reach, as it is under three hours from the region’s easternmost site, the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon.

Facilities & Amenities

There are two types of room at the Havari Guesthouse, double rooms and family rooms; the former have a comfortable double bed, whereas the latter also has a bunk bed. Both are wheelchair accessible, have access to Wifi, and boast a simple but cosy decor. All rooms share regularly maintained bathroom facilities and a well-furnished kitchen.

There is a cafe on site where all guests are welcome to enjoy a complimentary breakfast with locally sourced ingredients, which is particularly renowned for its vegetarian food. Staff at the hotel will happily advise you on the local area.
