Langaholt Guesthouse is located halfway down the Snaefellsnes Peninsula on its southern shore. This region is the highlight of west Iceland due to the sheer diversity of sites that can be found around every turn, and the hotel is a fantastic base from which to explore them.
The closest attraction is Ytri Tunga beach, a seal-watching hot spot, which can be found five minutes’ drive (or an hour’s walk) to the east; ten minute’s drive west, meanwhile, will take you to the stunning hamlet of Budir. The ‘Arrowhead Mountain’ from Game of Thrones, Kirkjufell, is one of the furthest attractions, but even that can be reached in 40 minutes.
As noted, Langaholt Guesthouse sits in the shadow of Snaefellsjokull glacier. The best place to experience this is in its surrounding national park of the same name, which also boasts sites like the Londrangar sea stacks and Djupalonssandur beach. Getting to these sites takes around half-hour.

Langaholt guesthouse has 40 rooms with en suite bathrooms, complete with showers and hair dryers, that can either have a double bed or two singles. All have rich furnishings, wide windows and a modern, cosy decor. The basic rooms are perfectly functional, although the comfort rooms have views over Snaefellsjokull and a patio. Two of the rooms are wheelchair accessible.
