Description

Solbrekka guesthouse and holiday homes are cozy accommodations in East Iceland, near the Mjoifjordur fjord. Nature lovers who’d love to stay away from the chaos of city life and relax in a hot tub will find Solbrekka perfect.

Location & Nearby

Solbrekka guesthouse and holiday homes are located in the Eastfjords of East Iceland. The Eastfjords is a stretch of coastline on the edge of Iceland, decorated with small coastal villages, waterfalls, and fantastic scenery, away from the crowds.

As soon as you go outside, enjoy some coastal walks along Mjoifjordur, and marvel at the snowy mountains of East Iceland.

There’s also an abundance of waterfalls around Solbrekka. The nearest one, Klifbrekku waterfall, is only 9 miles (15 kilometers) west. Hengifoss and Litlanesfoss waterfalls are around 46 miles (75 kilometers) further.

Gufufoss waterfall, the most magnificent waterfall in Seydisfjordur fjord, is 36 miles (62 kilometers) north. Further north, 10 miles (15 kilometers) away, is Dalatangi and its two lighthouses. The older lighthouse was built in the 1890s, while the other was in the 1900s.

The most accessible town, Egilsstadir, is 25 miles (40 kilometers) from Solbrekka. Here, you can refill your supply at Netto and Bonus supermarkets. For restaurant recommendations, check out Kjot and Fiskur restaurant, which has some of the best fish and chips in the region.

While at Egilsstadir, you can also check out one of the largest geothermal spas in Iceland, Vok Baths. Aside from its hot waters, there’s also an on-site sauna, a bar, and a restaurant inside.

Facilities & Amenities

Solbrekka has two types of accommodations travelers can choose from, a guesthouse and two holiday homes.

The guesthouse has two types of rooms, the king room and the family room. The King Room can accommodate up to three people, but it doesn’t have a bathroom. Meanwhile, the family room can accommodate up to six people and has a bathroom.

Visitors to Solbrekka guesthouse can also opt for a sleeping bag if they want a simpler sleeping option.

Solbrekka’s holiday homes, on the other hand, are cottages that can accommodate up to four people. Aside from the bedroom, they also have a living room with a sofa bed and a hot tub.

Aside from those few differences, both amenities have free Wi-Fi and parking space, a dining area, a kitchen, some barbecue facilities, and a terrace. Both also have access to the fantastic Eastfjords views, from its mountains to the coastal area. You can also join hiking activities and climb its nearby mountains.
