From Guesthouse Eyjólfsstaðir you can easily reach Hengifoss waterfall. It's a twenty-minute hike to the third highest waterfall in Iceland. The guesthouse sits on a forestry farm with more than 120 hectares of planted forest, and hiking trails lead down to the Lagarfljot river. In Egilsstadir there's a swimming pool with a slide and a hot tub, and the Vök Baths are 15 km north. Also nearby are the Icelandic Wilderness Centre, Snæfellsstofa, where you can plan trips into the eastern part of Vatnajökull National Park. Egilsstadir is only 10 minutes away, so you can go shopping or do all the things you need.

There are six shared showers and five toilets for the entire guesthouse, and each room has a sink. The rooms are single, double, triple or quadruple, with simple but modern furnishing. There is a safe in the lobby incase you are travelling with any valuables. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available. Breakfast is included in the price and parking is free of charge. Breakfast served 7:30-9:30, two- or three-course dinner for groups of 15+ on request. Office is email-only from 1 October to 15 April.
