Location and Nearby

Hafursá Farmhouse is located in the northern edge of Hallormstaðaskógur, Iceland’s largest forest. There are many marked hiking trails and footpaths in the area, playgrounds for children, a family-friendly arboretum and a popular campsite. Boat and horse rental are available nearby.

5km away there is a little shop where you can buy milk, bread and meat. Egilsstaðir is the nearest town with shops, supermarkets, a swimming pool and a tourist information centre, and it is 22km away.

Hengifoss, the second highest waterfall in Iceland, is just 12 km away from the property. Nearby you can also find the Centre of Culture and History in Skriðuklaustur and the information centre for the eastern territory of Vatnajökull National Park. The Eastfjords are home to beautiful sights like Borgarfjörður Eystri (89 km) and fishing villages.

Facilities and Amenities

Hafursá cottages stand side by side and they share a patio with a beautiful view over Hallormsstaðaskógur forest and Lagarfljót river. One of the cottages has one bedroom with a double bed and a smaller bunk above, and a sofa bed. The other cottage has two double rooms with bunks above the beds. Both have a living room, kitchenette and a bathroom.

The farmhouse has two apartments. On the ground floor there is an apartment for up to seven people. There are three beds in one room and a double bed with a bunk bed in the other one. It also features a living room, kitchen and bathroom. The second floor apartment is spacious and bright, with views over the forest. It has two bedrooms for up to four people and a sofa bed in the living room.

Each unit has a patio, a fully equipped kitchen, a flat-screen TV, a washing machine and a private bathroom with shower and a hairdryer. A fridge, a stovetop, toaster and a barbecue are also offered, as well as a kettle and a coffee machine.
