Seydisfjordur is one of the most central of the Eastfjords, though slightly off the Ring Road, making it neglected by most travelers. The hostel is located right in the middle of this hidden gem. This renovated building was once the local hospital, providing a sense of history and intrigue to your stay.
Seydisfjordur’s location makes it easy to access many of the other sites of the magnificent east. The largest town in the region, Egilsstadir, can be accessed in around half an hour, as can the area’s only geothermal spa, the Vok Baths. Within two hours, you can reach diverse attractions such as Borgarfjordur Eystri, the Holmanes Nature Reserve, and Mount Snaefell, the tallest free-standing mountain in Iceland.
Though most simple amenities can be found in Seydisfjordur within walking distance of the hotel, more choices can be found at Egilsstadir. The Seydisfjordur swimming pool is just 30 m away, the Smyril Line ferry terminal is a 10-minute walk, and the golf club is 1 km from the hostel. Its sister hostel, the Harbour building, is at Ránargata 9.

There is a range of rooms to choose from at Hafaldan HI Hostel, based on your group’s size, budget, and wishes. There are double, twin, and family rooms for up to four with private bathrooms. This hostel also offers double, twin, triple, family, and five-bed rooms with regularly maintained shared facilities. It is possible to book just a bed in one of the dorms.
