Within walking distance are two little-known but fascinating cultural attractions; 30 minutes north is Glaumbaer Museum, where you can marvel over historic turf farms from Iceland’s past, and an hour south is Varmahlid, a village that boasts even more of these marvels.
Varmahlid also has services such as gas and groceries; if you don’t fancy the hike, the drive takes less than five minutes.
In spite of its remoteness, there are still plenty of famous sites easily within easy driving distance of the guesthouse. Spectacular coastal towns on the northern fjords, such as Blonduos and Hofsos, can be reached in 40 minutes, for example. The capital of north Iceland, Akureyri, is just over an hour away, from which you can embark on plenty of nature adventures and continue onto sites such as the Lake Myvatn area.

Couples, pairs and solo travellers should look into booking one of the cosy single rooms, which have two single beds that can be pushed together and cover 9 sqm. Family and other large groups will suit the more spacious family rooms, which are 12 sqm and have a double and a bunk bed.
All rooms have magnificent mountain views.
Guests can self-cater in the modern, fully-furnished kitchen, and relax in the living room with its television and small library. Wifi is free throughout the house, and breakfast is provided every morning.
