Fantastic 2 Hour Horseback Riding Tour in the Icelandic Countryside with Lunch

On this tour, you will ride the Icelandic horse through the stunning scenery of southwestern Iceland, through wide valleys and vast lava fields. The pace is nice and slow for beginners, but experts will get a chance to stretch the horse’s legs by trying its famous ‘tölt’ gait.

The tour starts in the morning when you are picked up in Reykjavík. You will then be transported to the stables, just outside of the town of Hveragerði in southwest Iceland. Once there, you will meet your guide for the day as well as your horse. 

The expert guide will pair you up with a horse that matches both your temper and riding capabilities. The Icelandic horse is both friendly and gentle, so this tour is suited for both first-time riders as well as more experienced ones. 

After a quick introduction to horses, you will mount your steed and be off, traversing the beautiful countryside with views over jagged mountains and verdant valleys. You will spend about two hours in the saddle, traveling through lava fields and meadows and even crossing a small river.

Riding can work up an appetite, which is why after the riding tour, you’ll get to enjoy an Icelandic seafood soup, made fresh from local ingredients. You will then board a vehicle heading back to the city, arriving in Reykjavík shortly after lunch, with plenty of time to experience more Iceland adventures.
