We will begin day-2 by riding the generous Barðaströnd coast towards the southern part of the Westfjords. This incredible coastline ride gives us a view of the entire Breiðafjörður who is composed of magnificent wildlife as it is home to more than a thousand islands. A completely breathtaking scenario with seriously beautiful mountains inviting us to ride deeper into the Westfjords.
Riding on westbound to the most western point in Europe brings us to a terrific cliff, Látrabjarg. This incredible cliff is 14 kilometres long and is up to 440 meters high. This is a beautiful adrenaline-pumping ride that you can be sure to enjoy as this day ends in a quiet fishing town named Patreksfjörður surrounded with the energies of the deep blue ocean and the majestic mountains.
Day 3 - Day 3 - Patreksfjordur to Isafjordur (214 kilometers / 133 miles)
Get ready to head deep into the fjords and feel completely thrilled within all the mountains. This route is spectacular to ride as it offers supreme tranquillity as we see each fjord opening up to us like a unique phenomenon, and each fjord literally is different in the most interesting of ways. We will be riding over and through the mountains giving us some serious vantage points of observation and thrill.
Spectacular landscapes bound by the incredible strength of the surrounding ocean come alive in the west fjords with interstellar like magic. Prepare to see the most wonderful waterfalls like Dynjandi waterfall which Icelandic history knows well. This incredible day will end with us in the unforgettable Ísafjörður town.
Day 4 - Day 4 - Isafjordur to Djupavik (270 kilometers / 168 miles)
After the perfect sleep in Iceland's most attractive town Ísafjörður we'll ride along the ocean with the steep mountains guiding us to the small town Súðavík. We'll enjoy together The Arctic Fox Center in Súðavík, the arctic fox is incredible to see as it proofs to be a fascinating animal, living wild in Iceland. After seeing those cuddly killers we ride deeper into the Westfjords catching our breaths as the mountains overwhelm us with their ageless beauty.
As we thrillingly thread our way deeper and deeper into the mysterious Westfjords we come across some amazing sights witnessing beautiful wildlife. Djúpavík is this day's final resting stop making the day a complete perfection from dusk till dawn.
Day 5 - Day 5 - Djupavik to Ofeigsfjordur to Djupavik (113 kilometers / 70 miles)
As we ride out from our nest in Djúpavík we witness artsy looking abandoned herring factories, it's an amazing contrast of rust and concrete in this phenomenal landscape that makes for insane picturesque moments. In the nineteen fifties most all of these factories were abandoned leaving lots of stories behind and some very scary. Navigating the spectacular Reykjafjörður or in English Smoke Fjord around the remote Strandir coastline is an incredibly mesmerising ride.
Riding out into the Ingólfsfjörður is invigoratingly stunning, this is a very uninhabited area with very mystical nature all around. We ride through Ingólfsfjörður to find our way to a magical geothermal pool perfectly tempered to enjoy a bath in. This is a wonderful way to relax and recharge with mother nature's raw power.
Day 6 - Day 6 - Djupavik to Stykkisholmur (321 kilometers / 199 miles)
On the sixth day of this fantastic journey, we ride out to the coastline of Drangsnes. This incredibly remote and majestic place is home to a very special and very small fisherman's town. You'll see a legendary island named Grímsey, a definite hall of fame island as it generously hosts our cute friend the puffin. Heading further we ride together to Hólmavík, a town where the devil was defeated by a local, be sure to ask the guides if you are interested in the beautiful details.
After a short and informative stay in Hólmavík, we ride to Iceland's smallest village of total 13 inhabitants. This small village Borðeyri is a delightful sight to explore and enjoy, we ride the Laxárdalsheiði to higher altitudes and then down the other side into the plains of Bíldudalur and Stykkishólmur towns.
Day 7 - Day 7 - Stykkisholmur to Selfoss (245 kilometers / 152 miles)
After a sound sleep at Stykkishólmur, we start with a very enjoyable road to ride that used to be called Women's Creek, though it's not the official name any longer. Riding through this creek is always sensational. This awesome trail takes us to the southern part of Snæfellsnes, a hallmark of natural beauty with the red iron fields called Mýrar, riding along this graphic scenery, which has a history of being too hot to handle as the lava you'll see is pretty fresh.
Riding the ridged lava plains to Borgarnes takes us through Iceland's historic scenery of epic proportions, great battles were fought on these plains. We'll track our ways further in and up the land to ride a beautiful gravel road along lake Skorradalsvatn through mountain passes to the infamous Hvalfjörður.
The bends and inclinations and declinations in Hvalfjörður are extremely enjoyable to ride, this fjord has great whale hunting experience packed into its memory and the buildings, you'll see them as they strike a beautiful tone into the landscape which is dark and dim as this fjord is cold and big. Within Hvalfjörður is a beautiful creek named Kjósavallaskarð which we will ride through into Þingvellir National Park from where we will track our way to Selfoss.
