Description

Witness the wonder of the Northern Lights on your trip to Iceland.

For a successful Northern Lights hunt, the most important thing is to know what to look for and where to direct your attention. That might sound obvious, but it usually takes more than just driving around in the dark to find the Northern Lights. That's why this Aurora Basecamp tour is designed to help you experience the Northern Lights.

Using our expertise as Northern Lights guides, you will be taken out on a one-of-a-kind Aurora Basecamp Dark park that has been custom-designed to help you get the best of the Northern Lights in any weather or season.

The Dark park is kept low lit to help your eyes adjust to the dark. Guided by an expert, you will be introduced to the different features of the Northern Lights. Starting with the faint green haze, the impact of light pollution and the unique Northern Light mirrors that have been installed to show the realtime activity of the SolarWinds in the upper atmosphere.

As a Northern Lights Observatory, the real magic happens outside when the conditions are right. The guided tour ends in the outdoor area that is low lit with campfire and benches to stay cosy while admiring the endless space or simply enjoying the outdoors with family and friends.

The tour includes access to the low lit Aurora Lounge, furnished with tables and benches and with plenty of hot chocolate for warming up on the cold winter night. The Lounge is fully staffed with experts that will tell you everything you need to improve your chances of seeing the Natural Northern Lights on any given night of the season.

The Northern Lights are most likely to be visible from mid-August to mid-April. During this period, the best time to see them will be from 8:00 PM until 1:00 AM: when the skies over Iceland are at their darkest!
