Description

Discover South Iceland with this unique hiking tour from Skaftafell Nature Reserve and a visit to the Fjallsarlon glacier lagoon. Travelers eager to see impressive views of Iceland's glaciers should join this combo tour now.

The small group tour starts mid-morning at your tour's base camp near Skaftafell Visitor Centre. Make sure to arrive at the place at least 20 minutes before departure to get fitted with safety gear. Aside from your safety gear, wear warm clothes that allow you to move around easily under your equipment and sturdy boots.

You will proceed to the Falljokull glacier tongue for your thrilling Icelandic glacier hike. Although easy, participants are expected to be healthy, though your certified guide will assist you if needed.

Up close, the outlet glacier's otherworldly beauty will take your breath away. You can view fantastic ice formations, ridges, and crevasses as you explore its diverse terrain.

You'll finish your adventurous and rewarding hike at the glacier's base. From here, you will take a trip of approximately 40 minutes to your next destination, the Fjallsarlon glacier lagoon, a hidden gem unknown to most travelers.

The tour does not offer a transfer from Skaftafell to Fjallsarlon, but you'll need to rent a car to reach Skaftafell regardless.

The second part of your tour will start one to two hours after your hike in Skaftafell Nature Reserve. While waiting, you can eat lunch at the Frost restaurant, near your second meetup point at the glacier lagoon.

When the time comes, you'll board a small, sleek Zodiac boat. Riding a Zodiac boat will allow you to get up close to the massive icebergs of the Fjallsarlon lagoon.

The icebergs at the lagoon are not just huge but vividly colored and have a range of interesting shapes. Thus, don't forget to take pictures of them to remind you of this incredible experience. You may even witness an enormous piece of the glacier break off and fall into the water if you're lucky.

Overall, this combo tour of nearly seven hours allows you to maximize your Vatnajokull National Park experience. It is also near the famous Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon, which you can easily visit from the Fjallsarlon glacier lagoon.

Hike a glacier from Skaftafell and experience getting close to Fjallsarlon glacier lagoon's icebergs in this tour. Check the tour's availability now by choosing a date.
