The Litlaa river, nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of North Iceland just south of the Arctic Circle, is a serene and picturesque waterway that meanders through the remote countryside.
Litlaa river translates to "Little River" in Icelandic, and it was formed in 1976 by the eruption of the Krafla volcano.
Geothermal activity from nearby hot springs mixed with colder water from nearby Lake Skjalftavatn keeps the river at a comfortable temperature of 54-63 F (12-17 C).
The shallow river has a slow-moving current, making for ideal snorkeling conditions. Its waters are more like a lagoon, and you'll find it easy to explore the different areas of the river.
Water from the hot springs erupts at the bottom of the river, causing ripples known as "bubbling sands." You'll see volcanic sands, multi-colored sediments, and green algae.
The river is also home to wildlife, including snails and trout, so you may see some of these during your snorkeling tour.
During the tour, your guide will take photos using an underwater camera. You'll receive these photos after the tour to relive the fantastic memories you made on the day.
After snorkeling, you'll return to the meeting point, where you'll be given cookies and hot chocolate to warm up. You can chat with your guide, ask questions about what you've seen in the river, and look at the photos taken.

Be at minimum 99 lbs (45kg) / maximum 264 lbs (120kg).
Be able to swim and be comfortable in the water.
Be physically fit.

Be at least 12 years of age.
