Ice Cave Tour by Vatnajokull Glacier | Departure from Jökulsárlón

Based on 245 traveller reviews

Join this tour to experience the extraordinary beauty of an ice cave in winter. You'll explore hidden spaces near Vatnajökull glacier, the largest glacier in Europe. Enveloped in the snowy hills of a national park.

(For a summer version of this tour see this trip in Katla glacier with departure from Vík)

This is the highest rated ice cave tour in Iceland. Just choose the time which fits your schedule and make your way to Jökulsárlón Café, beside the famous glacier lagoon in South east Iceland. You can make a day of it, and enjoy the glacier lagoon area, taking pictures of the floating icebergs. Reserve early, this tour is very popular and likely to sell out.

At the start of the tour, you will drive with your group to the cave which has been specially chosen for its dazzling structure. The drive itself is exciting, as you will be traveling in a super jeep. When you get there, you'll have a short walk through the landscape to the cave where you can learn about the mighty Vatnajokull glacier from your knowledgeable guide. Thick socks and warm layers will come in handy today!

Ice caves are rare phenomena that form naturally. The ice caves are a long time in the making. Each fall, after the meltwater of spring has begun to freeze, local guides from the area hunt for new ice caves. This is why the location of the caves change every year and every ice cave is unique and newly formed! The structure and condition of the caves can vary greatly each year. Our guide decides which cave to visit every day depending on safety and weather conditions.

There is extremely limited availability for this popular tour. Reserve now you if you want to see this incredible attraction! Check availability by choosing a date.

I went on the Ice Cave Tour by Vatnajokull Glacier, greatly enjoyed it, and found it to be good bang for the buck! The drive to the ice cave (about half an hour) was a mix of interesting information about the ice cave, and little moments of adrenaline (though never a doubt that the driver was in complete control). In the ice cave itself, of course there are other people visiting it, but I didn't find it overcrowded. I was able to take some photos of my friends with no-one else in the background, for example. You are able to walk to the depths of it if you wish, and the tour involved a good amount of time so we were able to explore the cave at our own pace without ever feeling rushed. After visiting inside the cave we walked on the glacier with the tour guide, which was very cool. We actually finished the tour before the prescribed end time, because all six of us tourists on board felt like we were good, and made that call - so even if you spend a lot of time taking photos (like I did), I don't think you need to worry about time constraints on this tour. Finding the pick up/drop off point before the tour was very simple and straight-forward. I found the price to be very worthwhile for the quality, location, and duration of this tour. Our tour guide Garðar was excellent - funny, informative, and made us feel that we were in safe hands throughout the tour. Overall I highly recommend this tour! Thanks Garðar!

The tour was awesome, but very pricey for the short amount of time. It was difficult to take a picture without people in it, although we went there early in the morning. In spite of all, our very funny (and attractive :D) tour guide Sven, who happily took pictures with and for us, told us stories about himself and the glacier and who was all in all a very charming and educated person, made this tour a very pleasant experience. The cave was really full, but the way back to Jökulsárlón, we drove with a massive, cool Jeep through the snowy mountains, and listened to icelandic music -that was very rough and made us emotional. I would do it again :)

We had a fabulous tour. Reynir was very informative, and funny, making the entire trip one to remember. The colours in the ice cave are incredible. Such a wonderful experience!

The cave was amazing and the guide was really friendly and funny, but maybe a bit overpriced considering the time you actually spend there.

This tour is well worth the money. We went towards the end of the season (end of March) but still managed to see amazing ice. It's really quite a site to see, I highly recommend taking the time for this tour.

The Ice Cave tour was amazing! Our guide, Athelstan (Addi), was very informative and friendly (and also, very good-looking, haha)! He gave us a lot of history of Iceland on the drive to the cave, and although it's a bumpy ride, he ensured our safety. The cave itself is not very large, but you get some phenomenal pictures in it. It's also fun to drink the glacier water that is dripping from the cave! Addi also stopped on the way back so we could enjoy the stunning view of a mountain and lagoon. This is one of those tours that is very much worth it, as climate change will soon render the cave obsolete. Thank you, guide to Iceland and Addi! :)

worth every penny for this experience. We were lucky to be first in the cave at 8:30am so it wasnt crowded.

Fantastic tour with an excellent and knowledgeable tour guide, full of personality. The caves are amazing and the glacier is a fantastic landscape. Most of us may only experience this once in our lives. My husband my son (14) and I went and rocked our world. Definitely worth seeing while visiting Iceland. The tour company is fantastic as well.

Excellent - tour was informational, hilarious, safe and a blast! Reineer was an awesome tour guide. The cave is overall fairly small, with a long ride out, but well worth it. Stop by the glacier lagoon for pics.

We loved it! The ice cave was breathtaking and our tour guide was very funny and helpful. He stopped on the way back to let us get beautiful pictures and then made another stop to let us drink from a stream. It was so cool. His name started with a G, he told us we could call him Goonie.

We had the best cave tour experience ever! Highly highly recommend it. It is well worth the money! Halli Hansen was the best tour guide of all time!

Our guide was exceptional. The cave itself was smaller than expected, but there had been heavy rain and accessibility was questionable to begin with. There were a large number of people in the cave which was a bit disappointing as it was very small. Hard to take pictures without getting a myriad of extras in them. Overall it was a cool experience but for the price I expected more.

What a wonderful adventure! I went into it knowing that there may be a lot of groups in the cave, but was pleasantly surprised to find that there were only two small groups (I did the 4 pm tour, so the last of the day). Even if there had been a large number of people, you are given plenty of time to take photos and hang out under the cool blue ice. The ride to the cave was also quite the experience, in the best way possible. I definitely recommend this excursion!

The tour was fantastic! Our guide, Svein, was incredibly friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. He happily took lots of pictures with and for our large group of 14. Be prepared for a possible (and unavoidable if so) bumpy ride to/from the ice cave. Still highly recommended!

We had a great time on the ice cave tour while exploring the southern and southeast side of Iceland. Our guide, Reineer, was friendly and entertaining. It's not a large cave but you get plenty of time to get up close to the beautiful glacial ice and explore. I would highly recommend this tour to others exploring the region!

It's my understanding that there are a few different ice caves and that you get to go to whichever one is safest or most accessible. The one we went to was definitely different from the video above, but was still quite cool. It wasn't a very big cave, so it was a lot less "exploring" and more of getting to see the glacier up close and take pictures. We had the first tour of the day (8:30am) and I would definitely recommend it. There were about 15 people in our tour and that made the cave a bit full as there was another tour group there (assuming from a different company) at the same time. It was crowded, but not bad at all, and everyone had time for photos. By the time we left however, you could not move inside the cave for all the people, and forget about pictures without other people in them. Also, the cafe at the meeting place didn't open til 9am. Overall, fun tour, but it's definitely just a chance to get a cool picture and see the glacier up close. Don't expect to go exploring like in the video above.

Excellent outing. The Crystal Cave was one of the highlights of the trip. The cave was flooded when we were there (mid-March), which meant we couldn't walk around freely, but neither could anyone else. As a result, we could experience and photograph the cave without people walking around and taking endless selfies. A definite plus. The super jeep squeaked through the whole ride which was annoying (and left me feeling it wasn't well-maintained). Our guide was experienced, with a good sense of humour. I particularly enjoyed it when he chipped ice off the glacier and we could eat it. Also drank and collected water from a mini fall inside the cave. It's now in my fridge in Canada. Worthwhile experience overall. I would recommend it despite the steep (very steep) cost.

This tour was incredible. Our guide was so friendly and let us stop at all the picturesque places. We spent as long as we felt we needed in the cave, got to crawl through an ice cave tunnel, and went on a short glacier walk. It was absolutely amazing.

Went on 12 March 2017 at 9:30 and arrived back at Noon. The tour left on time in a Super Jeep. We drove a few minutes down the highway and then about 30 minutes off-roaring to the cave. Because of warm weather the day before, as well as rain all night, the cave was a bit flooded so we weren't allowed to go all the way through the it. We were able to enter and explore about 20ft in and take photos for 45minutes. It was absolutely beautiful! Dark blue hues were vibrant and breathtaking. There were a few other groups in the cave, so you need to be patient to get your turn with photos:The tour guide was informational and comedic and overall allowed us to have a great time despite the weather.

Great tour! Our tour guide, Gunnar, was vey kind and always happy to answer our questions. The cave was amazing, the only problem is that it was starting to get flooded so we couldn't go that deep inside.

Amaaaazing experience, just so beautiful and best tour guide ever!!

This tour was amazing. Loved everything from the drive out to walking the cave. Our tour guide was amazing. Would recommend this tour 100%

Great experience! The drive out to the ice cave was almost as fun as the ice cave itself. Definitely worth the trip!

Jordan and I had a blast with our new found love Halli Hansen! He was incredibly passionate about sharing this truly authentic experience with us. This was definitely the highlight of our trip and would highly recommend this tour with this specific company. - Stacey adler

Ten full buses at once, one cave. It's not tourism anymore, it's industry. You feel like in a subway station :)

Awesome experience! We booked the earliest tour (8:30) an are glad because there are several other trips and companies coming to the caves as well. We were able to enjoy some time in the beautiful cave by ourselves. The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable, and allowed us to stop and take pictures in several places! Great experience and highly recommended!

Such a great experience! We were picked up in time for the trip and the guide was extremely nice, informative and entertaining. The ice cave itself was breathtaking! Definitely worth a visit when you're in Iceland during winter.

We booked the 8:30 tour and we're glad we did so because when we reached the cave there was only one other group (when we left there were like 5 or 6 groups inside the cave). The drive/guide was nice and funny and explained everything we had to know about the cave and security measures. The cave... I think our expectations were a little too high. We had seen some photos and had pictured a big cave with lots of tunnels, but in spite of all its beauty, the cave was rather small (about 25 meters deep). We still managed to take some amazing photos of the vivid blue ice which made the all experience worth it.

My tour of the Crystal Cave was fantastic. Had a great guide who was entertaining and informative. He didn't wear a hat, which amazed me. The wind was brutal and he didn't wear a hat. Very impressive. I thought he was great and the caves (we saw two) were just incredible. We had plenty of time to explore each one and take pictures, and even got great pictures of the sunset. Highly recommend.

My experience was great! Sun was shining for the March 3rd 14:40 tour. Svein was an awesome guide, both funny and informative. The cave was beautiful and intimately small. Yes, other groups were there also but our group was timed in such a way that at one point for almost 20 minutes we were the only ones there. This smaller cave was great for the fact that the ceiling of the cave was more easily photographed and details more visible. If you go into this tour with the viewpoint of it being a "once in a lifetime" adventure instead of "it must look exactly like the adverts" then you will have a great time!

The tour was not as enjoyable as I was hoping. The ice cave itself was beautiful but tiny, and felt even smaller with the amount of different tour groups that occupied it at a time. Because of this it was hard to get pictures in certain spots, or take pictures without them being ruined by other people being in them. In the end, we felt rushed because we spent so much time just waiting for certain areas of the cave to be clear. Our tour guide was great, although sadly I can't remember his name. For the amount we are paying, I would suggest that less groups be taken to the cave at a time to allow for a more intimate setting.

Was really really looking forward to this trip and getting some good pictures. Sadly the cave was way to busy, couldn't hardly move in some spots so no chance of getting good shots. The guide was awesome and we loved the drive out to the cave but the bit you actually pay for was a bit of a letdown due to how full it was. It needs to be limited for sure so people can actually enjoy the caves beauty and get shots they want. Cap the number off for people in the cave at one time and this trip would be a lot better.

This was an amazing trip! The tour company was on time, professional, and made us feel safe at every step of the way. We did our tour on February 27th, 2017. Our guide Addi was funny and sweet and told us so much about the glacier, inspiring awe and respect in everyone on the tour before we even stepped into the crystal cave. Highly recommend!

The tour guide was very nice and took us other close ice cave of less people. But I think the ice cave was a bit crowded. After-all, we had a wonderful moment in the tour!

It was great especially situation when Big Car was blacked in snow:)

The cave was flooded but the guides made up for it with a longer hike and a different cave that was small but very beautiful. Our guide Halli was awesome and made our tour complete! Highly recommend this professional tour company!

cool

It was incredible! The guys were excellent and very accommodating. We were late for our scheduled time because we couldn't find the location but we were allowed to join the next group. Tour guide was top notch too with excellent info on the glacier and surrounding area. Make sure you have a proper camera because your phone will not do it justice. Please note for those travelling from west to east: The cafe meeting point is just left of a suspension bridge on the main ring route. It can be easily missed on a dark morning

Wonderful

The day my group and I went for our ice cave tour it had been raining heavily the past few days, so the caves had filled with water and our tour ended up being cancelled. But, we were given the options to come back the following day, cancel and get a FULL refund, or do a glacier walk and get a 50% refund. We opted for the glacier walk and half refund and had an amazing time!! Our guide Halli was incredible!! I would highly recommend doing a tour to anyone who loves the outdoors, or breathtaking once in a lifetime experiences! SO AWESOME!

Great! The tour was cancelled due to flooding of the caves, but we were given the option to have a glacier tour at 50% off. Our tour guide, Hallie was awesome and his personality and expertise of the glacier made the experience unforgettable!

Awesome experience, really nice guide. Must do!

Ice cave was great! Never had seen anything like it and our tour guide was nice. I will say I was expecting to walk around more but you really just explore the cave yourself. Still, really cool!

My experience was wonderful! The tour guide, Svenni, was entertaining and informative and made the tour a lot of fun. Although the tour got off in an unorganized fashion things were great once we got rolling. The glacier and cave were fascinating and stopping for a photo op was great, too!

The ice cave was amazing! Our guide was Svenni. He was very funny and informative. I learned so much on the tour about Iceland. Great experience!!

Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon was for us an amazing experience of Iceland Winter Wonderland <3 We have chance to see another planet of landscapes! Breathtaking landscapes of mountain glaciers, ice caves, black sand diamond beach with ice-cube crystals from glaciers and trip on white roads with big car :) Absolutely stunning and breathtaking experience! Thanks a lot to our wonderful and fantastic guides: Sveinbjörn and Anna <3 Very informative, friendly and helpful! They gave us many hints & recommendation for our further trip on Iceland! Highly recommend this tour and our guides! It`s definitely worth seeing*****

The trip was amazing! We got there really early to check out the lagoon at first and take lots of photos of the icebergs and the sunrise. Beautiful spot. It was quite easy to find our guide and their associates. Our guide was very informative and friendly making sure to accommodate us the entire trip and answered all our questions. We went in the afternoon at 1pm and it was just gorgeous with the lighting in the cave. The tour is highly recommended!

At the meeting point, it was un organised. I reached 30 minutes earlier and I need to ask around who is my tour guide like a lost child. There is no sign boards to indicate which truck we should go to. My original tour guide apparently has left or missing without informing. Luckily another tour guide asked me to join them and sit in their truck, and it's a pity the seat weren't enough so the late comers need to sit on the floor of the truck. Need more planning on this . Kind of kill off the joy even before the trip started. Of course, when we reach the glacier, it was superb and it was highly recommended to join this tour (if u didn't got abandoned in the meeting point)

Loved it! Amazing views! Definitely something worth doing if you have the time

The tour was really awesome and the cave looked just like on the pictures! It is not a short hike plus the weather can be windy and cold, so make sure to dress warm. Crampons were provided which came really useful when crossing ice covered with snow during the hike! The guide was super friendly. He was teaching us to speak Icelandic, telling us about Games of Thrones filming in the area and taking really nice photo shots of us!

Good communication through out despite been stuck in awful weather the day before! Make sure you arrive a day early as winter weather in Iceland is so unpredictable otherwise you run into the risk of missing your tour! Ice cave was really beautiful but a lot of people!

We had an awesome adventure. Our guide was Biggie "Like Biggie Smalls" He was fun and professional. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history and I am so glad we got him as our guide. The young lady who was checking us in at the cafe was also awesome. I wanted to take her home in my pocket. Biggie took us to the Diamond Cave. It was an adventurous drive on the glacier to get closer to the cave. We then had a bit of a hike to the cave. It was fine for my fiancé and I, but we are in our 20s and in shape. My mom had a bit more trouble as she is in her 50s and rather out of shape. I think the amount of walking depends on the cave you are going to because some seemed closer to where the parked the vehicles. I highly recommend going on the first tour of the day because it is less crowded and "fresh." This day was the prettiest weather of our week long trip. The sunrise cooperated and we got an awesome view when we got to the top. The cave was gorgeous. It was small, but we were the only tour in that particular cave so it was ok. We even got to squeeze in a small crevice that went a couple dozen yards into the glacier. It was neat. My fiancé coordinated with Biggie to propose in the cave right after everyone else had left. It was magical. Thank you so much for a great experience and the most memorable proposal!! I will definitely suggest it to anyone coming to Iceland as a MUST DO with Guide to Iceland!!

Our guide was amazing (don't remember his name, but a big guy with a big beard). The ice caves are nice, but I should have taken the photography tour and go to another icecave that I saw on picture. This one is great, but I guess the other one would have been AWESOME.

Our guide was Byggi (not sure of the spelling) and he was great! Gave us lots of info about the glaciers and the history of Iceland, including the elves! The ice cave itself was breathtaking! We were given plenty of time to explore the cave and take lots of photos. It was on our bucket list and we're so happy we got to experience this natural wonder. Thanks so much Byggi and Guide to Iceland!

It was a really nice tour. The ice cave was one of the most amazing things i've seen in my life. The guide was pretty funny but we weren't always able to hear his information in the loud car. The road there was an adventure on itself. And yes there were a lot of people inside the cave at the same time but you could still take some really nice pictures. We were there when the sun started to rise so that gave a really beautiful extra effect. Only downside is probably the price. I mean it was worth it just to have this experience but for students who tried to do iceland on a budget it was still a lot of money for a 45 minute experience inside the cave.

We visited ice cave 29th Nov 2016. The cave was very beautiful and drive was a bit adventurous. Our guide was very funny, informative and considerate. He managed to take us to the cave when no one was in it so we could fully enjoy its beauty and take enough pictures. The only downside was the cave was i guess melted and reduced in size so could not see the ice patterns as shown in many pictures.

Ice cave was something I always wanted to do and luckily I was able to visit one. The tour guide was professional and funny. The ride was quite adventurous. The ice cave was beautiful. The downside to it is the amount of people in the cave. I understand the attraction but I wish the tour companies worked out the times to limit the amount of people in the cave at a time. Overall, amazing experience and would definitely recommend. Can't wait to go back and see a different ice cave in the future.

We had an awesome tour and the ice cave was everything we expected and more. Our guide, Sven (not sure about spelling) was really great. He was even a Wildling in Game of Thrones so we got to hear a little about that on the drive to the glacier. Unfortunately it was raining when we came out of the cave so our time on the glacier was extremely limited, which was our only complaint. By the time we got back to the van it had stopped raining so we were hoping we could stay, but we left after only about 5 minutes on the glacier. Overall, though, it was a really great experience and we are glad we did it!

The tour was great and our tour guide, Byggi, was very informative & knowledgeable. The cave itself is amazing and unlike anything we have seen before. Only downside is the number of people in the cave at once when so many tours are running. However you are able to find your own corner of the cave and get some great pics. Recommend this tour and Guide to Iceland as the tour guides.

This was a great tour. The tour leaves slightly earlier if you get the first one of the day and so you get to the cave when it's less crowded. Driving over the glacier is surreal. My only feedback to improve would be a quick stop to take pictures of the stunning lagoon .

Awesome experience... The colors are amazing! Even saw a seal swimming near the glaciers! Guides are very knowledgeable & even offer insight on how to get the best pics! Long drive to get there but well worth it!

It was incredible the colors was amazing are tour guide was very good alot to see around the area

What a sight to see the blue ice of the ice caves. We timed it perfect before the wind storm that came through. Just after our tour the wind stayed to blow the snow and all you can see was the white.. It was a trip of a life time. We spent more on this tour than any other tour but it was with it. I recommend this to everyone.

amazing color inside the cave and it is incrediblely pretty in nature

Amazing experience! You do that once in a lifetime! Highly recommended! Our guide was very friendly and informative. Thanks! :)

This was such a great experience! Our guide was awesome and very knowledgeable about the glacier and ice caves. I didn't realize we were going to actually hike on the glacier as well. That was awesome!

Amazing! Just as we had hoped. A bucket list item for sure.

Epic tour! Our guide was very informative and it was great to hear some history about the area of Vatnajokull we were exploring. The cave was unlike anything you've ever experienced before and I definitely reccommend it to anyone considering it. The hike on the glacier was equally as exciting.

Amazing experience & I highly recommend it as it is once in a lifetime experience! We did have a good time in the cave taking photographs and appreciate it from the inside. It was beautiful. And that's a thank you to our tour guides!

This Ice Cave tour was amazing thanks to Gummie! He was an amazing tour guide. Fun and so full of knowledge. He was by far the highlight of our trip.

Wow...It was cool....it was blue.....right amount of time. I say a must do. I wish they said don't use your flash photography on the bus....I probably would have gotten better pix.....

The tour is wonderful and the guides are nice!

The Tour was fantasic! The only issue that I had was with the amount of groups and people in the Ice Cave which made it very difficult to set up my tripod and get the photos that I wanted without someone getting in the way. In the future I would prefer a smaller group which would be separate from any other group that wished to attend the site. There should definitely be a larger window between tours to allow the serious photographers a sufficient time to capture some decent images. That said, I highly recommend this tour!

The tour was great! Throughout the hike, our tour guide Olaf was sharing very interesting information regarding the glacier. It was like a live documentary! The views were breathtaking, and we even got to pass through a small ice cave. I definitely recommend it.

Tour guide is very friendly and it is a once in a lifetime experience for me.

We had a fantastic experience, with a guide who gave us all the explanation we wanted. The cave was so beautiful. I have allready recommended him to a friend who is coming to Iceland in April. So we are very happy!

This was an amazing experience and our guide was second to none, giving us a great tour through the frozen tundra and into the beautiful ice caves. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you so much!

This trip was amazing! Our private guide, Einar Krist Jansson, was a true expert of his beautiful country! He drove us around his home town and explained how life is for people in his country. He took us to his families private farm to see their horses! He explained everything we saw along the route to the ice caves. He even took pictures for us! The ice caves were just fabulous and we really enjoyed the ride to get to them! After the ice caves, Einar took us back and toured us on a private road with breathtaking views of the Ocean! Einar really made this tour complete! He is very proud of his country!!! This was a wonderful day!

The tour guides are very friendly and nice. They provide you with many important informations not only about the glaciers but about the national park and the history of Iceland! The trip it self it's an amazing experience! Absolutely recommended!!!

Guides are very friendly folks and they provide a lot of interesting information about the glacier.

This tour was an absolutely incredible, once in a lifetime experience that was well worth the money. The equipment functioned great and there were no problems. Olaf stopped frequently to point things out, which is great if you're not used to hikes. Our guide, Olaf, was informative, helpful, and extremely charismatic. We were fortunate enough to have a small-ish tour (7 people, of which we were 5) and enjoyed learning from him and joking with him. He even gave us a great recommendation for food in the area afterwards.

Amazing experience! The tour guides you are so nice and informative! Thank you so much, I will never forget about this in my life!

It was amazing! We have never experienced anything like this before. The drive alone was fun and the cave was just beautiful! The guides were very professional and we felt safe the whole time. I can only recommend this to everyone who wants to visit Iceland in winter time!

It was a real adventure! The staff was very kind and helpful. The monster bus alone is quite a fun, then the cave itself is amazing. Unfortunately the weather wasn't in our favor, it was cloudy, with snowfall, but these guys made the day fantastic. Unforgettable tour that I recommend to everyone who comes to Iceland. Thank you:)

Fantastic tour! Our guides were great - informative, funny and helpful! The drive to the cave on the F6 road was super fun and the cave they brought us to was very big - there were three rooms! If your meeting spot is Jökulsárlón lagoon and you are a shutterbug, I highly recommend you build in time either before or after the tour to hang out there. We took the tour starting at 1pm and when we arrived back at the lagoon the sun was setting and the colors were spectacular. Take your time and enjoy!

This was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen in my life. The shear beauty of nature at it's best. And to top it all off, the tour guide showed a small group of us a second cave (or what was left). It is something I will always remember and hope to get to experience it again.

We had an incredible time. The scenery was amazing and the guides were very professional. We felt safe and happy all the time. I wish we could go back again. Maybe next year...

We booked the 5 day winter package with Guide to Iceland and this was by far the highlight of our trip. We were told by the guides that the cave had just expanded. It was HUGE. I got some amazing pictures of the cave and my girlfriend standing inside of it. We felt tiny. The guides were really great and made the whole experience unforgettable. Thank you Koli and Gumi!

The experience was truly once in a lifetime. The weather started out rather erratic. The strong winds were biting and truly made the walk into the cave difficult. The guides were very informative and provided us with all the gear we need, such as the spike outer coverings for our shoes for easy walking on the slippery ice, and the helmets. The ice cave was very beautiful and mystical. However, I felt that the cave we went to was rather small, but managed to spend 30-45 minutes inside taking photos and navigating through the rocky terrain. Overall, the tour was memorable but I am not too sure if its worth 110GBP per person.

It was such a great experience with our guide, Sindri. Not only the ice cave, but also all the way to there and from there including a small lake were all unforgettably beautiful !! Also he was a so fabulous guide and we had a good day together. Once again, thank you a lot for giving us an unforgetable great memory. We may come back Iceland again!

Despite pretty heavy snowfall the previous day, we were relieved that the tour still went ahead, and it made the drive to the cave in the monster-truck style bus even more fun over the fresh snow! The cave itself is really beautiful, it was a bit of a crawl on hands and knees to get from one part to another, but that's because apparently it changes shape every day. Totally worth it, was a great experience and lots of photo opportunities!

amazing scenery! the staff is also very kind and nice!

I went there to see the ice cave in December. I was a bit worried because it took later than usual to form this winter because of warm weather. But the guides (who were awesome) told us that the ice cave had been stable since the beginning December. This just added to the excitement of the tour and the cave was incredible.... so blue!! We got some awesome photos and the tour was everything I had hoped for!

Our tour was cancelled because of the heavy storm in November `2015 but it was no problem to change the date so that we were able to go 2 days later. We had perfect weather and the cave was just stunning even if it was not as deep as we expected it, it was like 20-30 meter. Our guide was super cool and told us a lot of stuff during the ride to the glacier about it. It was a realy great experience and i can just recommend it. If you get the chance to go for it, do it! Thanks a lot again to our guide and guide to iceland for the good support!

We had a great time on this tour! It wasn't quite cold enough to go into the main ice cave that they usually take people through, but they had us go into another cave and then 2 other areas which was really cool (pun intended)! It was an incredible experience going INTO a glacier. Definitely recommend for a one in a lifetime experience! Company was also professional and prompt to reply with any questions I had previous to our trip. Thank you!

This was truly a once in a lifetime experience! Our guide, Kolli, was extremely knowledgable and friendly. He provided a great deal of information. The ice cave was stunning and beyond description. We even got to see remnants of last year's ice cave. I highly recommend this tour - dress warmly and wear good boots!

Amazing to visit in the winter time. Going off roading to glacier was really fun too. Loved it!

We visited in December and the ice cave had just started to stabilise. We felt very lucky as the weather had been unusually warm in Iceland the month before and was not safe to enter in November. But when we were in Iceland the cave was magnificent and the guides who took us there were great. The journey to see the ice caves was also a lot of fun as Guide to Iceland was operating them them on super huge jeeps. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone, the only problem is that you have to get yourself to East Iceland. But if you do, you will see the most amazing sight of your life.

Due to weather and safety concerns we did not go into the ice caves themselves and only saw them from a distance. Although still a quite interesting experience, I was disappointed that we weren't really warned about this being the case until we actually got to the caves. The guide was great and very knowledgeable but I wish we had the opportunity to opt out of the tour given that they were not able to show what was promised. I understand that weather is out of the company's control but a warning before the tour would have been appreciated. That being said, we still got to see some pretty awesome remote areas of Iceland that we would not have been able to drive to on our own.

We didn't get to see the blue ice cave due to safety concerns, however, Guide to Iceland was excellent in being honest and straightforward with everything that we would encounter. The guides at the glacier were knowledgeable, funny and a joy to be around. I look forward to visiting again and will definitely go through Guide to Iceland to help book the tour.

I'll start by saying that although we didn't get to go into the ice cave due to weather and safety concerns the tour and our guide was fantastic. I actually really appreciate the fact that the company cared about our safety as opposed to letting us into an unstable ice cave. Sure we were only there for a day and didn't have an opportunity to go in but our guide was very knowledgeable, witty and took the time to provide plenty of information. Now I'm hoping to get back in the dead of winter so I can actually go in one!

very nice guide. and pace control

Awesome experience. The tour was amazing and we were able to see some breathtaking views!

The guides were fantastic, very easy to work with. The snow made things a little difficult and we were not able to enter the cave because of running water in the cave. This was a disappointment but we still enjoyed ourselves. I had to email for a partial refund but that was handled without problem, just seems like it should have been granted without the email. Overall still a great day to see the cave, just a bummer we could not enter.

Our ice cave tour was a wonderful, possibly once in a lifetime, experience. Kolli was a great tour guide. He was humorous, entertaining, and most important our group felt safe with him. I highly recommend using Guide to Iceland and hope to do so again one day.

very cool experience even this year the cave is not so big . The guide is a young and handsome boy .He has a sense of humor and patience .we appreciate a lot ! thank you !

Great experience! But unfortunately we couldn't enter the caves since temperature was not low enough. I wish we were told about it in advance since I booked it only a day before the tour and all other operators clearly mentioned that going into the cave wouldn't be possible. But guides were well informed and nice. Enjoyed our trip :) thanks folks!

It was wonderful! Our guide was amazing and it was one of the best things we did the entire time we were in Iceland. We would do it again in a heartbeat!

Our guide was great and the tour was great with the exception of not actually going into the Ice Caves. We weren't told that upfront and weren't offered a partial refund until we asked. It was neat because we never had done anything like that before, but quite disappointing that we didn't get to go in the ice caves. All-in-all, we contacted Guide to Iceland and they gave us a half refund. That greatly helped the matter. We understand weather has something to do with it, but we weren't told that we wouldn't be going in until we got to the actual cave. Communication could have been better is all I was frustrated with. Thanks so much, Guide to Iceland! We are grateful for our time with you.

It was an incredible tour.we had the luck of perfect weather: sun, frost and snow. the guide was a young man who took us on a spectacular tour, well worth the money..the tour to the glacier, the walk up to the three!! caves, small on their own,but all spectacular to see. he was totally enjoying his job, and did so very well..he was knowledgeable and told us about the history and geology of the area in a pleasant interesting way. and he was being responsible and taking good care of us hiking up to the caves.one of the caves had been flooded, he took now risks but he took us as far up there as possible. the material like the crampons where of good quality and looked new..so we felt totally safe. very easy to talk to it felt like he enjoyed our company too...had a nice talk after the tour and he bought me a coffee which we drank outside standing in the snow in the sun. this tour gets a 5-star rating from me in every way (Y)

It was too cold but exciting to walk on glacier and into the cave. But I'm still looking forward to go to a bigger cave than this one.

The tour is wonderful! And the guides are very nice!

Average and protracted. The tour is ok but it feels like it's padded out to make it in to something that might justify the price tag. The cave is not bad but it's flooded so you don't really get that far inside and then there are so many other tourists you will be lucky to get any photos like those shown on the website. Also felt slightly conflicted charging over the glacier in a massive 4x4 truck that is clearly having an impact on and damaging the glacier that we are told by the guide is retreating at an alarming rate each year....seems counterproductive. All together it was ok but for the money I wouldn't recommend.

The cave was beautiful but it was way too overcrowded. For the price I paid I expected a much more intimate experience. My tour guide was awesome; his name was Reynier (sp?) I believe. He is what made the tour worth it in the end. Just keep in mind when booking this that there will be 6 other bus loads of people there while you're there. I went at 1pm so maybe the early morning tours are less crowded.

It was good but not great. Our guide was awesome, really funny and full of cool information about Iceland. The cave itself was quite cool with beautiful colours but it was much smaller than I expected. The other issue was the number of trips going there at once, there were probably about 100 people in the cave when we arrived so it was almost impossible to actually appreciate the cave as you were constantly getting in the way of someones photo or being distracted by a camera flash. Iceland has seen a massive rise in tourists which is great but they need to start regulating so that things don't get ruined by the vast numbers of people visiting.

The cave was beautiful but it was too crowded. For the price that I paid I expected a more intimate tour of the caves. It was hard to even take photos or find a corner of the cave I could enjoy on my own. So for those of you wanting to book this, beware that there will be 10 other tour buses there while you're there. Im giving 3 stars for the expirience in the cave but I give 5 stars to the tour guide I had!! He was super cool and very informative. I believe his name was Reynir (sp?). He definitely helped make the experience worth while when driving to and from the cave.

A little bit disappointing, too many people there in the cave, hard to find a spot to take a picture and the cave is not as beautiful as expected

Our guide was a very nice and professional guy who explained a lot about the cave and made sure everyone was safe. The cave in the pictures however is not the same cave we visited. Although it still was an incredible experience there were way to many people at the cave at the same time so you couldnt really enjoy. Also we think €184,50 euro per person is expensive for a visit of 45 min (driving took twice 25 min and the visit itselff was about 45 min).

Great guide. The cave itself is a bit underwhelming now.

Well, what can I say. It is expansive, yes. 153 euros for 45 driving in a super jeep, 30 minutes in the cave, then 45 minutes more to come back. Does it worth it? Maybe yes, since it's a bit of adventure in a tough road to the glacier on a monster noisy jeep, then you were a helmet and go down the cave military style (you'd better be in a modest shape!). Forget those blues you see in the picture, ice is not that colour and even with sunlight you hardly see those colours. It's more natural ice color (transparent) and some dirty mud on top too. The shapes are amazing though. And, in some pictures you can appreciate some blue color (some cameras catches colours you don't see, as per northern lights, they're greener in pictures). The tour was a bit crowded and I was annoyed by the fact that 4 people jumped in at last minute and paid there, it made me think I could have done the same on earlier tour and not at 15.45 pm (by the way we waited 30 minutes to leave, since it was combined with other tour.. around 20 persons entered in a small cave and you have to fight a bit to get your space and get some pictures or space to explore, people are taking pictures all the time). Since it was my only tour during my trip - tours are so expensive everywhere - I think it worth it, because of the ice shapes and some hidden tunnel you can explore.. maybe it's unique, ice cave under a glacier.. but 150 euros.. x 20 persons.. x 4-5 tours a day. Serious money, congratulations guide to iceland, nature blessed you :P

We weren't able to enter any of the caves on the date we booked for this tour due to warm weather. I had called the day prior to inquire, as earlier in the week other tours were able to go in. However after one collapsed, to ensure our safety, they led us on an informative hike around the caves instead. Our main guide, Gummi (sp?) and his fellow tour leaders were friendly and extremely knowledgeable but I was bummed we didn't get to enter or take the photos I'd hoped for. I didn't think to inquire about partial refund, but I guess it was still a unique experience in the end.

Very, very cool. Our guide was so knowledgeable about the geology of the area - he was so interesting, so cool, and veeeery handsome. For the record, I'm pretty sure the overwhelming majority of Icelanders are good looking people, so I'd have been surprised to not have a good looking guide ;) Loved putting on all the gear, hiking across the glacier and checking out what the glacier had to offer. The only reason I took a star away was because the pictures shown for this tour were very misleading. The "cave" was, in fact, a small crawl space that only extended about 1.5m. Now, November has been unusually warm, and I understand that this is beyond the tour company's control, but it was really disappointing to see these gorgeous pictures of the cave, rent a car, drive all the way out to the east and pay a large sum of money for an icy crawl space. I didn't experience anything remotely like the pictures, so that was very disappointing, but I still had a good time with my guide and on the glacier, and I was still glad to go. Check it out!

First, we were very lucky and thankful for our tour guide Kolli! If not for him, our tour would have not been awesome ! The rugged terrain and magnificent sceneries to and from the cave site were beautiful. It's an experience everyone should have. We will for sure book our tours to Iceland again!

Lots of fun! The tour guide was very informative and helpful. The cave was flooded when we got there, but the glacier was still fun to explore.

Felt like a real explorer on this tour. Guide was first class also. Highly recommend this for anyone looking for an adventure they will not forget.

First of all - no one said anything about the crazy extreme sprinter you get to take and do some serious off-roading in (depending on the conditions when you go I guess) so add that to the awesomeness of this experience! Second of all, we went on a muddy, dreary, "caves aren't that great" day and it was still unbelievable! The guide said the colder the better too so if you're questioning if you will be freezing the whole time, who cares, the caves will be so spectacular, you will forget. If you're questioning whether to spend the money for this, the answer is YES, it is totally worth it! Enjoy!

We find the overall tour overpriced. We were pickup at the cafe at 8.30am and journey to ice cave is less than 30mins. We spend another 30mins taking photo in the cave. The ice cave is really small but crowded with tourist. Its very hard to even get a spot to take photos. Overall i would not recommend this tour to others.

I never got on board for the ice cave tour due to the fact that a sandstorm hit Jokursarlon lagoon area moments before my scheduled tour, broke two of my car windows. I had to drive back to Reykjavik in order to change my car. The funny thing is that i tried to speak to the ice cave tour guide about the situation and he answered me with no hesitation that is not his job to help me. After i told him to stop and listen to what i had to say, that i was one of the members of the ice cave tour, he suddenly became friendly and told me ''good luck'' to whatever i was going to do. And he left with the rest of the group. I don't know what happens in situations like this (if there's a refund or something). Now i am back to my country. I hope one day to go again to Iceland and be more lucky this time.

I was so excited to visit an ice cave, it was one of the purpose of my entire travel in Iceland during winter period but the tour completely disappointed me. The organization was good and the guide was prepared and professional. The truck we've used seems to be a little bit old and with some problems but the transfer to the cave was good. The worst part of the tour was due to the fact that there were a lot of people inside the cave, literally arm against arm sometimes, as a photographer I would enjoy more a less crowded situation such as the picture used to promote the tour. In addition we stayed inside the cave just for 30 minutes, enough for a common tourist, too short for a photographer. There are a lot of tourists now in Iceland so I invite you to manage the ice cave tours in a different way.

Our tour was cancelled, but we were given the option to come back and walk on the glacier and explore the "Diamond Cave" and "Mulin Ice Cleft." We had just done a glacier walk at Skaftafell with Icelandic Mountain Guides the day before, which was MUCH cheaper than this tour and a WAY better experience. Our tour was quite dull - we walked about 30 feet on the glacier, saw a maybe somewhat interesting icy area, and then got to peek at the flooded cave. Our guide tried to be lighthearted about it, but it seemed like he wasn't terribly enthusiastic about taking us out. The crampons we used were also of much lesser quality than the ones we used on the other glacier. I can't believe I paid almost $200 for this tour. I contacted Guide to Iceland about my experience after the tour and all I got was silence. Reading the other reviews, it looks like some people got the glacier hike for half off, but we paid full price for this tour. I really can't recommend this tour, nor can I recommend this company, for such a poor experience. At the very least, they could have offered a partial refund. Look elsewhere for an ice cave tour. I don't think this tour company "looks for" other caves to explore - they have one in the glacier that they use and that's it. I should've known better, as the other companies that offered these tours were sold out, and this was the only one with openings.

Well the ice cave was breathtaking but the tour guide was mean and rude to us! He definitely lacked the sense of customer service.

Our guide was knowledgable and entertaining, but our tour was a big disappointment. We only toured two very small, very dark caves which were both not terribly interesting and looked nothing like any pictures you see posted here. Our very large group of over 20 people were herded between the two caves where we often waited for other groups to clear out before we could be rushed in and out of the caves ourselves to make room for yet more groups following behind us. Not only was this tour not worth the very steep price, it was a waste of valuable daylight/nice weather which is a precious thing during a winter trip to Iceland. We would have much rather the trip had been cancelled. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that we spent as much time adjusting the tire pressure on our vehicles as we did actually touring any ice caves.

The description notes that the tour duration is 2 hours 30 minutes. I took this tour today...when we got inside the cave, our guide said that we had 1 hour to hang out in the cave. The entirety of the cave could be walked in 2-3 minutes. I don't know where the 2 hour 30 minute duration is coming from. I guess they're counting the 30 minute drive each way and the ~30 minutes prepping / hanging out outside the cave? The description seems very deceiving to me, and I had much higher expectations for the tour given the $190 price tag. You're also sharing the cave with every other tour company, so it's very crowded inside. The cave was neat, but the tour was not worth the money, and the description above should be more transparent with potential customers. I would not recommend these tours unless you're really dying to see an ice cave.

Terribly disappointed by the tour operator! Do not be deceived by the images and video. We signed up to se ice cave but what we got was more like an 'ice hole'. No doubt the weather was not favorable on the day we visited but seriously?? We were brought into such a small area which was probably about 5m in depth. 5 METRES! This is not a cheap tour but we felt cheated. I have videos and photos to proof as well. Only consolation is that the place is indeed blue and beautiful. The beauty of the tour was terribly let down by the so called 'cave' which we led to.

The ice caves were great to see in person but they look a lot better in pictures and videos. Unfortunately the marketing video gives a false impression of what they actually look like. We were allowed to go into the cave at most 20 meters and shared the small space with a few groups at the same time. It was a unique experience but not worth the trip.

“My comments on this tour are guided by my experience on an ice cave tour I went on near Longyearbyen, Svalbard, Norway in March 2015. The trip up to the cave entrance and equipment provided were very good. The general information on safety and the cave were good. The entrance to the cave was easy to negotiate. The specific information on the crawl zone which led to the inner cave was vague. When in the inner cave, the narrative on the colour, nature and dating of the ice and cave formation was technically suspect. Casual conversation led the guide to make some very odd statements on climate change and whale hunting. From a photographic point of view the cave was quite good with spectacular shots. It was a pity that the guide was not able to explain more about ice features and their formation. In comparison to my experience in Norway, this tour was disappointing.”

There were too many tourist at the same time in the cave. Different tour operators at the same time. You can't take good photos with a tripod and with less or no people on them. Staff very friendly and it was nice to see the cave.

I would not do this tour again. The guide was very nice and funny and he told us about how expansive the cave was, but when we got there, the cave was literally just two rooms connected by a low and narrow tunnel. This would have been okay for one group or two groups at a time, but we were herded into the cave like cattle -- I think there were at least five or six different groups in there all at once. It was way too crowded to enjoy, and we felt rushed in and out. The description says one hour in the cave, but that included quite a bit of time jammed into one room with three other tour groups waiting for people to get in an out. It's kind of a "once in a lifetime" thing, so you're obligated to go, in a way, but I've been to another ice cave and this one (and the whole experience) certainly was a disappointment. Also: I noticed my previous negative review was deleted. I wonder if all negative reviews are deleted from this site? I thought the cave tour was "too good to be true" when I booked it -- now I know why.

The tour guide is very nice. But there are too many group go into the small cave at once, so it is kinda crowded inside.

The ice cave was spectacularly beautiful, with stunning blue light and different textures in the ice. Our guide Atli grew up in the area and knew the site really well and could answer all questions. The group was very small (4 people + guide) so we got a lot of attention and could spend as long as we liked exploring the cave and taking pictures :) Highly recommended!

We loved it, although it was probably a little over priced we still enjoyed the trip!

Our guide was terrific. However, very disappointed with the herding of too many people into tight quarters, It was extremely tough to take photographs with all of the people. Also, very hard to crawl to the back room. This was not the cave that I had seen by other professional photographers ( I would own that I should researched better options). A tour for a small group of photographers in a larger cave would be much better for a future visit.

Cool tour, friendly and helpful staff, the cave looked really great. But I regret we were so many people in this tour (around 20-25 ppl)..

We drove from Reykjavik because of the reviews on how good this experience is. Upon arrival, we easily found the place and a person from the company. We took pictures of the surrounding area because it was so nice. We soon found out that our trip would be delayed due to truck complications because of the weather the night prior. This also led to half of the cave being closed due to it being flooded and dangerous. This was a let down for us and being late to the cave led to us not having the best pictures because it was dark. The guide we had to the cave was extremely nice and informative. It was a crazy fun experience getting to the cave because of the off-roading. There were negatives though and we were compensated for not experiencing the whole experience. This company is amazing and definitely is there for their customers. This is the type of company that will stay in business because they cater to their customers. We recommend this tour group to anyone looking to see the ice caves.

The visit is very interesting - but photographers should be prepared to 1. poor light and 2. co-visitors who, for most of them, don't care about you, or even the cave, and are more interested in all (all!) sorts of selfies. Bring a tripod and your patience. The cave - different each year - was this time a bit "small", but nevertheless something to see. Too bad the budget for a family of 5 is quite high.

We went in November, I found the tour guide very informative, that was about the highlight of the trip. We went into a cave for about 15-20 minutes then left that cave to peek around a corner at a cave we couldn't even see into because it was unsafe, my partner and I were very disappointed. So in summary we spent 20 minutes of a 3 hour trip in a small cave with 20 or so people. €270 that cost us.

It was a great experience since it was my first time on a glacier. The guides were very nice and give us all the support and proper explanation of everything. The only thing I am not giving it a 5 star is because we weren't able to go into ice caves do to weather conditions. I know is something that can not be controlled but It was the main propose of the tour an we weren't able to see it. The guides made their best effort to show us some caves and we enter to a micro one.

good

Incredible experience! Everything from vehicle to tour guide was so fun and enjoyable, would absolutely recommend. Also, our tour got cancelled due to extreme weather so they gave us the option to attend the early session instead.

Great tour and great guides. Got some beautiful pictures that made my friends very jealous :) If I visit Iceland again I will make sure to book this tour again with Guide to Iceland. Amazing service!!

What a great tour, beautiful place and fun guide.... no regrets and five stars!

My husband and I had really good time on our Ice Cave tour! The guide was really friendly and we liked that he didn't just tell us about the facts, but also shared his personal stories.

It was very fascinating and interesting, everyone should see the ice cave.

Iceland was a dream come true and I have Guide to Iceland to thank for the making it extra special! For me, Iceland had an intriguing draw to it, and I was beyond glad to have the experience I had. I love that the website allowed me to connect with local experts who went above and beyond helping me make the trip worth while with the time we had. Konstantin was an excellent help and my friend and I were sorry we were not able to meet him and his wife with the limited time we had in the country. Our plan was to take advantage of the Ice Cave Tour, however we received an email while still in Ireland that this would have to be canceled due to the warmer temperatures. We understood this was something that may happen. Although bummed about the change, Guide to Icleand truly made the experience exciting none-the-less. We were offered an upgrade to a snow mobile tour on top of Vatnajokull glacier which was fantastic. We had a great guide and the tour was simple and very fun. Who would not want to ride on top of the worlds 3rd largest glacier in the world and speed on a snow mobile. I was impressed how much the people knew about their land. I have already recommended Guide to Iceland to many friends who want to travel to this beautiful country and I will definitely be using their services again when I visit the north coast and the Westfjords. So thankful for the people that made this trip possible and enjoyable.

Our ice caving tour was unfortunately cancelled because the cave was melting (in mid March). Instead we were offered a full refund, a glacier tour or a snowmobile tour. We choose the glacier hiking tour and were able to see the ice caves from the outside - still impressive to witness the destructive ice melting along the cliff of the glacier! Humans ourselves seem so powerless in front of the mother nature... Very expertised and friendly guide and unforgettable experience on the glacier ice!

Absolutely FANTASTIC! The ice caves were breathtaking and the guides were so knowledgeable and kind. What a great experience! This was definitely the highlight of my trip. The entire experience from the person helping me to book the reservation, the knowledgeable guides, the time we spent on the glacier, just everything about this excursion was impeccable! I'll most certainly be back for a summer hike with this group!!

Really good tour! Very friendly and professional guides. The caves are different every year and it's definitely a must see in this great country. Highly recommended.

This tour/icecave was one of the best things we saw on Iceland. The guides were very friendly and explained everything well and understandable. Would definitively book this tour again and recommend it to all.

The tour was great! The glacier cave was more stunning than any picture can capture, and our guide was very knowledgable on the history of the area. He even told some entertaining stories and folklore too!

One of the best parts of our trip, knowledgeable and funny guide with back stories and a personal touch. The Ice cave was beautiful, although we went in February when it already started melting a bit,it was an amazing sight.

Our tour guides were amazing! They were so friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely learned a lot more about Iceland from this experience than I thought I would. It was an incredible sight, so beautiful and I loved our little trek out there. It made us feel like we were exploring real Iceland.

We had a really good time there, our guide knew everything about the cave, there wasn't any unanswered question left :) We took hundreds of pictures, absolutely stunning. Thanks for that!

Well organized tour, very friendly and helpful guides! Thanks a lot for the great experience!

It was really a sight to behold! We went in the winter so ice caving tours were still available. It was really amazing and we had a really knowledgeable and funny tour guide. A must see if you're heading to Iceland in winter!

My boyfriend and I went on the crystal cave tour in February 2015, and it was such a memorable experience! We decided to go to the caves last-minute. Every other tour group was booked--only this one remained--but we were very happy we chose GTI. The price was reasonable, the guides were flexible with the tour time when a storm approached, the cave was gorgeous, and last but not least, the tour guides were great! They were friendly, informative, patient (despite the paparazzi-like tendencies of some tour goers), and always put safety first.

We couldn't afford the cave tour because of the warm weather but instead we grabbed the chance to go snowmobiling at the top of the snowy mountain!! Brilliant experience and the most unforgettable moment during the whole trip:)

That was a great experience! The cave was just stunning! Thanks again to the guides!

Thanks to Guide to Iceland, we have an unique oportunity to visit an ice cave of the Breiðamerkurjökull. It was a wonderful experience, I only wish it would have lasted longer for the money (you spend at least 30 minutes getting to the site - this time could be used for some basic information about the glacier and caves which are provided then there on the spot) and we would have visited some more caves, not only one. The guides were super friendly and well-informed though and the cave we explored beautiful, so I would rather recommend this tour.

It was great! We initially had an ice cave tour, but the cave melted so instead we got another (just as awesome) glacier tour, plus some money back. The guides were really fun as well.

Thank you Guide to Iceland for setting me up with a phenomenal tour. As a photographer, I am always skeptical of taking a tour as opposed to trekking out on my on, but this tour was a highlight of my trip! The humor and information provided by the guides only added to a great time! Will definitely look to Guide to Iceland for my next trip!

The caves had melted so they upgraded us to a snowmobiling trip onto the glacier, was just as fun!

An amazing experience that everyone should have in their life!

Amazing and unique experience! Guides were nice and informative. I would highly recommend to anyone going to Iceland during the ice cave season.

Amazing and unique experience! Guides were nice and informative. I would highly recommend to anyone going to Iceland during the ice cave season.

Amazing tour, the best activity we chose by far!

I did this tour back in March. The weather was horrendous and we'd just caught the end of a huge storm. The tour happened regardless and despite the conditions and being advise we wouldn't be able to access the cave due to flooding - our guide then tested it out and took all the ladies over via piggy back one by one so that we didn't miss out. The absolute highlight of my trip, the cave was out of this world and the tour operators incredible. Highly recommended!

I booked this tour but the Ice Caves where already gone. Well, thats nature! They offered me an upgrade: Snow Mobile and Super Jeep Tour instead of this Tour and it was just amazing! Perfect service and nice people! Thanks :-)

My favorite experience while visiting Iceland! The guides were very informative, friendly, and helpful. The ice cave was beautiful, the blue colors are magnificent! A must see in South Iceland.

The tour was fantastic with very friendly and informative guides! Not only is the Ice cave absolutely stunning but the drive across the glacial debris field is a lot of fun!

Well worth the trip! The caves were majestic and the guide was very knowledgeable!

Wonderful! Informative guide who was concerned for our safety. The caves and glacier was magnificent!

Absolutely amazing. Not only was the view spectacular but the staff were friendly and informative. The experience was raw and inspiring.

Really amazing tour. The guides were really welcoming, they told us some great story and knowledge about the mountain and all the environment. I really recommend this tour. Unforgetable. Thanks a lot!

The guides were welcoming, knowledgeable, and very well organized. The ice cave was beautiful. The ride out was like a thrill ride and the trek along the mountains was glorious. A highlight of our trip in Iceland that I would highly recommend to everyone!

We spent 2 weeks travelling the ring road and visiting every natural wonder in Iceland, but this was definitely the highlight of the trip! The tour was well organized, the guides were knowledgeable and friendly, and the caves were AMAZING! It was literally, otherworldly. We had plenty of time to spend in the caves and even with a larger group everyone was able to get good shots and enjoy the beautiful ice caves. The road out is super rough, off-roading, so the only way to get out to see the caves is via tour. Well worth the money and time spent and I would definitely do it again :)

A thoroughly enjoyable trip to the ice cave, which was actually more comfy than the strong wind and sleet outside the cave! Beautiful and definitely a highlight of my trip. Very well organised tour of the ice cave. Highly recommended =)

It was a Beautiful day! We really enjoyed the Tour! It was a great experience!

Ice cave was beautiful! well worth the drive through a blizzard and back! Ice really is THAT blue! Guides were both fantastic and helpful even with our large group. Doing this is seriously a must, I flew all the way to the island for a second time just to do it and it was worth every penny!

Little bit cloudy weather made the colour of glacier more blue. Watching into glacier feels like falling into deep clear blue ice and trapped, you will experience abnormal scene.

Guide to iceland is a professional tourist company provides various tours in iceland with absolutely great service and attitude. I have not only had a lovely ice cave tour, but also learned a lot from the guidance. I would surely choose them again for my next trip to Iceland!

Seeing the ice cave was incredible. The way the light filtered through the ice above was unmatchable. The caves are rather large and not claustrophobic at all. Our guide was incredible and very safety concerned. Never felt in danger at any point, actually wish it might have been a little more on the wild side. The way there is bumpy but the vehicles used handled the elements without issue. There is a very light hike on the way there. Wish it were more of a hike than a walk to the ice caves. Some on our tour did the hike in heels so I would say anyone could handle the hike/walk to the caves. I would do this again especially if they found another cave to explore.

The Ice Cave Tour was amazing. Our driver took us to the glacier with a super Jeep. The Guide told us nearly everything about the glacier. Safety was very Important for him and he was very nice taking pictures from us The duration was about 3 hours and it is worth every Cent. If you are in iceland you have to do such a tour

One of the best part of my vacation in Iceland was the Ice caves. It was a spectacular site. The guide was very patient. We got the afternoon tour time and our guide let us stay a little longer and enjoy the caves.

Unforgettable!

This was a great tour! The guys who ran it told us so many stories we would have never heard, about local iceland and also info on glaciers and the importance they have in the world. The walk to the cave was only about 10 minutes and was flat, so would be OK for people who might not be regular hikers. The drive out to the glacier was rough terrain, so I def. wouldn't advise people driving themselves. I would say that this tour was certainly worth the money!!

Brilliant tour, one of the many highlights of our trip!

Tour guides were awesome, and the caves were stunning. It was fantastic!

We recently booked an Ice Cave Tour excursion. We booked them through Guide to Iceland. The tour guide was on time and very helpful in explaining the excursion. We got to ride off road to the Ice Cave. Hawk explained the history of the area and the background on the ice caves. Thank you Hawk and Glacier Adventure. Be sure to tip your guides because it is a lot of work to ensure these caves are safe for the tourists.

Had the best time in my life. Great tour, awesome guide and incredible experience. Don´t miss this ice cave!!!

Probably the most beautiful place in the world. Amazing experience and great guide. Will tell all my friends about this tour and recommend to everyone. See you next time.

I just came in from this tour and wow, was it amazing. The pictures that we got with our amateur camera are the best photos we have from anywhere in the world. If you have the chance to see this ice cave you should. I already want to go back.

By far the most people place I have been too. 5 stars

I did this tour now in December and can highly recommend it. The guide and whole trip was great from beginning to end. I advise anyone visiting Iceland to do this trip. The only problem is that is located about 4-5 hours from Reykjavík, but we rented a car through this website and the whole experience was great. Have a great time!
