Glacier Lagoon Tour | Small group exploring Jokulsarlon and the Diamond Beach
Description
Summary
Description
Get ready to experience Iceland you have been dreaming of!
After being picked up in Reykjavik, you will be able to enjoy your ride to the biggest village in the South - Vik. Waterfalls, lava fields, glaciers and volcanoes are just a glimpse of the breath-taking nature welcoming you as you make your way to this quaint, charming village.
Passing the black sand beach, just outside of Vik, prepare to be amazed. From the picturesque Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon and the oldest operating turf church in Iceland, you will get to stand right next to Svínafellsjökull glacier tongue. You might not be able to touch it, but looking at it will give you chills. If the weather will permit it, you will venture through Skaftafell National Park – a part of the largest glacier in Europe, Vatnajökull.
The furthest end of the tour will bring you to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon to observe the floating icebergs and playful seals. If there's time, you have the possibility to opt for a boat ride on the lagoon. After exploring this magnificent place, the nearby "Diamond Beach" will offer you a unique opportunity to walk between icebergs that had been washed ashore.
Just when you thought the tour had reached its end, we will take you to see Seljalandsfoss. If the conditions will be good, you will be able to walk around it and have the opportunity to make photos worthy of your bragging rights.
If you are taking the tour in winter, we might have to alter the tour as needed if road or weather conditions are unfavourable. The boats do not operate during winter and Fjaðrargljúfur may not be accessible in winter conditions. Instead, extra stops will be made. Due to fewer daylight hours in November to February, much of the driving to and from the sights will be in darkness, but the main sight of this tour – Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon will be visited during daylight.
