Your first stop is Laugaras Lagoon, which opened in 2025 on the banks of the Hvita River. It's Iceland's first two-tiered geothermal lagoon, with an upper and a lower pool connected by a warm cascading waterfall.
At the lagoon, you can look out over the Hvita River from the infinity edge, relax in the sheltered Forest Pool among the trees, take a dip in the cold plunge pool, and warm up in the two saunas. The turf-roofed building also has a restaurant serving seasonal Icelandic food.
Then you continue to Gullfoss Waterfall, where the Hvita River drops in two tiers into a deep canyon. On sunny days, the mist often forms rainbows.
Next, you visit the Geysir Geothermal Area, where Strokkur Geyser erupts every 4 to 16 minutes, sending hot water 49 to 66 feet (15 to 20 meters) into the air, among steaming vents, bubbling springs, and colorful pools.
Your last stop is Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you walk through the rift valley between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates, which are slowly drifting apart. Thingvellir is also the site of the Althingi, one of the oldest parliaments in the world, founded more than a thousand years ago.
At the end of the day, you return to Reykjavik.
