Description
Summary
Description
Discover Iceland’s Golden Circle in a hurry with this express tour around Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir geothermal area, and Thingvellir National Park. This tour is perfect for travelers visiting Iceland for a short stay, as it includes three essential Icelandic attractions but returns to Reykjavik early.
The tour bus will pick you up from your Reykjavik accommodation at around 7:30 a.m, 9:30 a.m, or 11:30 a.m. The bus is modern and well equipped, with Wi-Fi, USB sockets, an interactive tablet for each passenger, and an interesting audio guide available in 10 different languages.
These onboard features will keep you and your children entertained and informed during this family-friendly tour. And, of course, you’ll also have an expert English-speaking tour guide with you. The guide will be available to answer all your questions about the sights on the tour route.
Once everyone has boarded, the bus will take your group out of Reykjavik to the first destination on the Golden Circle, Thingvellir National Park. The park, one of three national parks in Iceland, is the country’s only UNESCO World Heritage site. The landscapes here are absolutely gorgeous.
Here, you’ll be able to take a relaxing walk through this breathtaking national park. You’ll also get to learn all about the area’s fascinating history from your guide.
Once you’ve enjoyed your time here, you’ll return to the tour bus to make your way to the second site of the Golden Circle, the Geysir geothermal area in Haukadalur Valley.
This area is full of hot springs and geysers. Geysir and Strokkur are two famous examples. Geysir is probably better known around the world, and it’s this one that gave the area its name, but it rarely erupts nowadays.
However, the Strokkur geyser blasts water up to 130 feet (roughly 40 meters) into the air every five to 10 minutes. This eruption is a spectacular natural event and a must-see while you’re on vacation in Iceland. Make sure you have your camera ready to take a photo!
The third and final stop on this tour is at Gullfoss waterfall, one of the most visited waterfalls in Iceland. Your guide will direct you to the viewing platforms to get a good view of the falls.
The water at Gullfoss falls 105 feet (about 32 meters) over two stages. During the summer, roughly 460 cubic feet (about 140 cubic meters) of water rush down the waterfall every second — so be warned, you may get wet if you get too close!
Once you’ve enjoyed your time at the three Golden Circle sites, it’ll be time to head back to Reykjavik. The tour usually reaches the city center in the late afternoon. Therefore, you should have enough time to enjoy a fun-filled evening after a full day’s worth of activities
