Description

Start your holiday in Iceland the right way with this fantastic tour exploring the iconic attractions and quiet backstreets of Iceland's capital city, Reykjavik.

This tour is a great way to get to know the capital better; as you're passing the best-known landmarks and buildings in Reykjavík, your friendly and experienced guide will be sure to share fascinating facts and stories, letting you in what local life is like here.

First, you will see the old Höfði house where the all-important summit between world leaders, Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev, took place in 1986. Höfði house is also believed to be haunted by a ghost known as The White Lady. The house is beautifully located on the oceanfront, providing a great introduction to the city's landmarks.

Next up is the widely photographed Hallgrímskirkja church. The building's interesting design was inspired by the basalt lava columns that are so commonly found within the Icelandic nature.

From Hallgrímskirkja, you will be driven through the city centre towards Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre, the 2013 winner of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture. You will have the chance to take a quick look inside the building before moving on to the Reykjavíkurhöfn city harbour.

After enjoying this idyllic scene,  you'll continue to a place called Þúfa. Þúfa is an art installation located across the harbour entrance from the Harpa. At Þúfa, you will walk with your guide around the artwork, all the while enjoying great views over the Faxaflói Bay.

Next, you will be paying Bessastaðir, the official residence of the President of Iceland, a fleeting visit. Here, your guide is sure to provide a swift overview of Iceland's politics, history, culture and folklore, providing you with a deeper insight into this captivating nation.

Perlan Museum is the last stop of the day, from where you can appreciate a 360° view over Reykjavík. Overlooking the colourful tin rooftops of the city,  with Mount Esjan looking over it all, you'll feel truly blessed for your deeper understanding of this magical capital.
