Spice up your Golden Circle sightseeing by adding a thrilling snowmobile tour and exploration of the ice cave onto your day. This adventure should not be missed by those seeking to get their adrenaline pumping and a new and unique experience.

Meet your guides at Gullfoss waterfall, one of the three sites of the Golden Circle. It is recommended you check out this sightseeing route before or after your tour as Gullfoss and the other two locations, Þingvellir National Park and the Geysir Geothermal Area, are some of the most beautiful and popular in the country.

At the carpark of Gullfoss, you’ll meet your group and guides, and board a massive modified super jeep. This vehicle is perfect for crossing the highland terrains and ascending the icy slopes of the glacier you are heading to, the second largest in the country, Langjökull. Keep your camera in hand as you travel, as the journey goes through some spectacular scenery.

You’ll arrive at a hut by the ice cap, where you’ll be provided with a snowsuit and be introduced to your vehicle. Qualified drivers are welcome to operate a snowmobile themselves, while non-drivers can join the tour as passengers.

Snowmobiling on the white slopes of Langjökull is an exhilarating experience. The snowscapes are otherworldly, the glacial features are incredibly dramatic and the views of the surrounding landscapes without comparison. Of course, to witness them at high speed only adds to the adventure.

Then you will reach the cave, formed by a deep glacier river that crawls from under this massive glacier, and venture into the great, dark ice cave. Once inside, you'll see icicles hanging from the ceiling which shimmer when lights hits them, and walls of dark grey and black. It is quite a sight and one you will remember forever.

As you travel through, marvelling over the textures and colours, your guide will tell you all about how the glaciers were created, what the threats to them are, and how these threats are being managed.

After a once-in-a-lifetime exploration, you’ll return to your snowmobile and whizz back down the glacier. You’ll then be escorted back to Gullfoss, no doubt with a camera full of photos of your wonderful experience.

Don’t miss this great combination tour to make the most of Iceland’s beautiful glaciers. Check availability by choosing a date.

Our guide Rekki was fantastic, full of energy and very entertaining. We had a great ride across the glacier, a good bit of time exploring the ice cave, and an expedited trip back to the car park after. Highly recommend this tour.

The weather turned pretty bad, but they took our group anyway. It sure made it exciting and a true attic adventure. Guides were excellent and accommodating under the circumstances. We went at 2pm, so our experience was entirely in the dark! Recommend a morning tour starting at 10ish if possible.

The tour it’s self, was a surreal experience. Driving over snow on snowmobiles in the dark and entering the glacier were all amazing. Cold but amazing. The staff on the actual tour as well were wonderful although perhaps slightly lacked in how they communicated what was taking place at times. But I can over look that as they made sure we were safe. So well done to the staff for working In the harsh weather conditions. I’m sure working overtime too! The major downfall was not the tour itself, the tour was two hours late with no contact from the mountaineers of Iceland offices which was terrible. all the people going on the tour waited around completely unaware what was going on with the sun setting rapidly.Chaotic! I eventually found out through alot of asking around that a bus had broken down delaying the tour. Understandable ( these things happen in life but let us know at the very least ). Alot of us were hours from our hotels and the longer we waited the longer our drive home in the Icey roads would be. When I rang the offices to ask to be accommodated another day the manager was the rudest man I have ever encountered. He was aggressive and made discriminatory comments against the English. Although I am not English ( which he thought I was) I still don’t believe his comments were correct. Whether I’m English or from the moon don’t comment rudely about it because your being defensive. Good customer service goes along way. I am fair & I get this manager was stressed out but after paying nearly £400 for a once in a life time tour, as the customer to receive no empathy to the situation and be spoken to rudely, I am not impressed at all. After paying all that money we did decide to wait for a few hours in the cold. I am glad we did as I want to reiterate the tour itself was amazing, guide to Iceland did nothing’s just this manger in the main office at mountaineers of Iceland that really upset me.
