Head away from the bright city lights in search for the elusive Aurora Borealis on this fantastic Northern Lights tour. Hop aboard a minibus with only a few other people and witness these green, pink, and white lights blaze the silent night sky. Those looking for an unforgettable evening in the wild Icelandic nature should not let this opportunity pass them by.

The tour starts in the city of Reykjavík where you’ll be picked up in the evening. You’ll be driven into the darkened countryside, far away from the city’s light pollution, where your hunt begins. The expert aurora hunters will look for total darkness, clear skies, and signs of these beautiful lights.

Once your guides have spotted these beautiful lights, you will exit the minibus and watch the auroras as they sway, in constant motion, in the sky, perpetually changing shapes. Make sure you dress in warm clothes as you’ll be standing in the Icelandic nature in the dead of winter to watch the vibrant colours of the Northern Lights. To warm you up after the tour, you’ll be given homemade hot chocolate and Icelandic doughnuts, a perfect way to end this magical tour.

Booking this Northern Lights tour also gives you a free ticket to visit the Aurora Museum in Reykjavik, Grandagarður 2, 101 Reykjavík. The free entrance is only valid on the day you join the tour, from the time we announce whether the tour is ON (by email and on our website). The entrance fees to the Aurora Reykjavik exhibition are complementary meaning that if you do not wish to go to the museum, there is no partial refund.

Where you go depends on Mother Nature. Your expert guides are will study the weather forecast and data beforehand to see which locations are the most promising. However, the Icelandic weather is famously unpredictable, so if it happens that you do not see any lights on your tour, you can join another Northern Lights tour free of charge.

Brave the Icelandic winter night to see the beautiful Aurora Borealis, it is worth it! Book now to see the luminous glow of the Northern Lights for yourself and join this fantastic minibus tour now. Check availability by choosing a date.

This trip was incredible! I would highly recommend it. It is a great way to explore the southern coast and learn a lot about the country. Our guide, Sighvatur, was incredible! He was super knowledgeable about the country and it's natural wonders. While there wasn't a lot of time at each stop to explore, it was a great way to see a lot. I would recommend packing snacks, as the selection can be limited at the gas stations along the way, and I prefered to use my time at each stop to explore instead of going to the cafe to eat. It was an amazing value for the experience. I would highly recommend this if you are short on time and want to see and learn a lot.

Small bus is the way to do this, it gives you the flexibility to get into places where the big buses cannot. Also, it takes quite some time to get everyone down/up from a big bus, and if you have to move locations, it does not help at all, not to mention fighting the crowds to take your pics. This tour was great, not only our guide "Bear" was excellent, we were also in the right place at the right time to catch as G1 solar storm hitting the atmosphere above us, while being the only tour at this remote site made it magical indeed.

I had the minibus trip on 09Mar 2019, guided by Bustravel Iceland the trip was great indeed and I can saw the northern light. but the problem is, the guide named Siggi offered us to take photo for all the participants, if we want to have those photo, we need to pay him 30euro I think it is a additional service, not a compulsory one, so I didn't realize any problem. but on the next day, the Bustravel Iceland company sent me a email with a link to download those photo, and the staff said it is free. then why did the tour guide charge us???

It is a small group of 16-20, but the bus was too small to fit such size of group. The driver was not fully explain what ‘s going on. When there is Aurora happening, it means your trip end. Driver will not drive you to another location for better view. In addition, the photos taken by the driver is worst than mine. Supposed he is a professionor one, not mine

so disappointed. The trip was cancelled 3 nights in a row owing to weather and visibility which i apprecaite. On night 4 we were told it was on however there was rain and thunderstorms into the evening so i wasnt too hopeful. Anyway we headed out on the bus and there was nothing but cloud. Tour guide tried however seemed to have lost hope as soon as we had set out and the rain started coming down. The free ticket to the Aurora musuem is great although not mentioned in follow up communication and from the time you annoucne the tour is on - not enough warning to help plan your day.
