Begin your adventure by arriving at the café near Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon at least 20 minutes before departure to exchange your vouchers for boat tickets.
From the café, hop aboard the amphibious vessel, which starts on land before smoothly entering the water. This amazing boat effortlessly transitions between land and lagoon.
No doubt, before getting on board, you will have been marveling at the spectacle of Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. However, when immersed in the lagoon with the icebergs surrounding you from all angles, you will experience a different kind of beauty.
Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon is formed by melting the Vatnajokull glacier, resulting in a lagoon filled with icebergs of various shapes and sizes. This otherworldly environment is breathtaking from all sides, with the different shapes and structures of blue icebergs around you and a carving glacier tongue in front of you.
You will spend around 35 minutes exploring the lagoon, so keep your camera handy, as there will be plenty of photo opportunities. An English-speaking guide on board will tell you all about the area's formation, history, and future. You will even have an opportunity to taste the ice. Considering it is thought to be about a thousand years old, this is quite a unique experience.
As you cruise through the lagoon, keep an eye out for seals. Many of these adorable creatures call Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon home, and you can often see them playing in the water or basking on the icebergs. As curious creatures, the seals of the lagoon have no issue with humans, which helps make snapping some great pictures easier.
The glacier lagoon is considered by many to be the most beautiful sight in Iceland, and an amphibious boat is one of the best ways to view it in all its glory.
Once the tour is complete, head to the iconic Diamond Beach to see where the icebergs wash up after reaching the sea. You can spend a whole day exploring this area, and taking an amphibious boat tour will definitely be the highlight of it.
