Daily itinerary

Day 1 -
We leave Egilsstaðir early in the morning, driving road 931 through Hallormsstaður, the country´s largest forest. Then we head for the highlands and take the F931 to Kárahnúkar dam and Hálslón reservoir. Continuing with a few interesting stops on our way we arrive at Kverkfjöll for a lunch stop. A few minutes drive before taking a short walk to visit the remains of the icecave and the river Volga. To end the day we recommend a hike to Mt. Virkisfell for a great view over the scenery.

Day 2 -
This is a full day glacier adventure in the west part of the mountains. We visit the geothermal areas in Hveradalur valley before reaching the highpoint at 1.800 mtr. A truely stunning scenery ! This one is well worth the effort and simply unforgettable.
Distance: 18 km Elevation: 1.000m Time: 12 hrs.

Day 3 -
After leaving Kverkfjöll around noon we make a stop at Hvannalindir, a beautiful oasis in the desert. Taking a different route back we make a refreshment stop on our way to Egilsstaðir.
