The first stop is Godafoss Waterfall, one of the best-known waterfalls in Iceland.
It is about 39 feet (12 meters) high and 98 feet (30 meters) wide, with the Skjalfandafljot River flowing over its edge in a wide curtain of water.
"Godafoss" means "Waterfall of the Gods." The name is linked to the story of pagan idols being thrown into the falls when Iceland converted to Christianity around the year 1000.
The waterfall is easy to reach and has viewing platforms.
After Godafoss Waterfall, you head back to Akureyri Town. Here, you drive through the Old Town, and your guide tells you about Akureyri and its history.
Akureyri Town is known as the "Capital of the North." It is the largest town in Iceland outside the Capital Region, with a population of around 19,000.
The town has museums, a botanical garden, and cafes, and it is also a popular place for winter sports such as skiing. It plays an important role in the economy and tourism of North Iceland.
Your final stop is Akureyri Botanical Garden, a quiet spot in the heart of the town.
Established in 1912, the garden has a wide range of plants, both native Icelandic and foreign species that grow well in the local climate. It is open to the public, with walking paths, flower displays, and lawns.
You can see over 7,000 plant species, which is unusual in Iceland, where vegetation can be sparse. The garden is also a good place to relax and learn about the plant life of the region.
At the end of the tour, your guide takes you back to your accommodation.
