Description
Summary
Description
Experience the best of Iceland with a private tour of the Golden Circle, which includes a transfer from Reykjavik. This excursion is perfect for those wanting to see the iconic attractions within the Golden Circle route while having the flexibility to add exciting activities.
Your Golden Circle adventure starts in your chosen place in Reykjavik, where your tour guide will pick you up. For the tour, you'll be riding a van with free Wi-Fi, so you're sure you'll be comfortable throughout the journey.
Make sure to bring a camera with you and don't forget to wear weather-appropriate clothing and good walking shoes.
From Reykjavik, your first stop will be at the Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO site that sits between two tectonic plates. Thingvellir is also a historic area and was home to Iceland's parliament, one of the oldest in the world.
Since this is a private tour, you have more freedom to explore the area. During your stay at Thingvellir, you can also check out its other attractions, such as the 44 feet (13 meters) tall Oxararfoss waterfall.
After exploring Thingvellir, you'll head to your next stop at the Geysir Geothermal Area. The area is home to various geysers, including the Stokkur geyser, one of the most visited active geysers in the country. The geyser shoots up to 65 feet (20 meters) of boiling water in the air every five to ten minutes.
Your third stop for the day will be at the Gullfoss waterfall, also called the "Golden Falls." According to some, it got its name from the golden afterglow on its water on some sunny days. To some, it's because of a farmer who threw his chest of gold into the falls.
What makes this private tour special is the chance to customize it by adding one more activity of your choice. For example, you can choose between snowmobiling or relaxing in a beautiful hot spring, for an additional cost.
The snowmobiling add-on will take you on a super truck to a glacier. Once at the glacier, you'll get a quick safety demonstration before riding a snowmobile for an adrenaline-filled activity.
If you choose to go to a hot spring instead, you have two options, the Secret Lagoon, also known as Gamla Laugin, or the Blue Lagoon. The Secret Lagoon is the oldest swimming pool in the country and has a consistent temperature of 100 to 104 F (38 to 40 C).
After a fun-filled day, your driver will take you back to Reykjavik, to the same place they picked you up from.
