Description

Embark on a private, luxury adventure to the incredible Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon and back on this South Coast tour from Reykjavik. Solo travelers, couples, and groups of up to three who are eager to marvel over the ‘Crown Jewel of Iceland’s Nature’ will find this experience unforgettable.

You will not need to head to a bus stop to start this trip, as your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Reykjavik. You’ll then enter your sleek, modern vehicle and set out for the South Coast sightseeing route. The Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon is on the far side of this trail, around five hours away, but worry not, as you’ll be exposed to some beautiful landscapes and get to stop at several other attractions en route.

In terms of the former, you’ll travel through rolling countryside, geothermal areas, lava fields, deserts of volcanic ash, and in the shadow of Vatnajokull, Europe’s largest glacier. In terms of the latter, you’ll stretch your legs at the 60-meter tall waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss and the mystical black sand beach of Reynisfjara.

Your guide will keep you entertained as you travel, answering all your questions and telling you about the country’s nature and folklore.

As soon as you reach Jokulsarlon, you’ll be blown away by its beauty. Separating an enormous glacial tongue and the ocean, and is filled throughout the year with icebergs. Some stand many meters over the water, some are the resting spots for colonies of seals, many boast vivid coloration, and all are beautiful.

You’ll have plenty of time to stride along the shore and take photographs before your guide shows you the adjacent Diamond Beach. Another black sand shore, the icebergs wash up here as soon as they reach the sea, creating a fairytale ambiance with how they glisten and contrast with their surroundings.

After you have enjoyed the majesty of the ‘Crown Jewel of Iceland’s Nature,’ your guide will drive you back to Reykjavik. Again, you’ll make stops en route to stretch your legs and find refreshments. If traveling outside of summer, you may even get a chance to see the Northern Lights as the sky turns dark.

Embark on a private tour to the magical Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon in just one day from Reykjavik. Check availability by choosing a date.
