The tour starts from your accommodation in Reykjavik or a nearby meeting point. After check-in, you head to the Borgarfjordur region of West Iceland in a minibus with your English-speaking guide.
The journey takes you along the Silver Circle, a route in West Iceland that includes Deildartunguhver Hot Spring, Hraunfossar and Barnafoss Waterfalls, and historic sites connected to the Icelandic sagas. The area is also known for its volcanic landscapes and geothermal activity.
The first stop is Deildartunguhver Hot Spring, the highest-flowing hot spring in Europe. It releases a large volume of boiling water at temperatures up to 207 degrees Fahrenheit (97 degrees Celsius) and supplies heating to nearby towns.
Next, you visit Hraunfossar and Barnafoss Waterfalls. At Hraunfossar Waterfalls, small streams flow from beneath an old lava field, while at Barnafoss Waterfall, milky-blue water rushes through a narrow canyon with sharply carved rock.
You then head to Husafell for a visit to the Husafell Canyon Baths, set in untouched Icelandic nature.
To get there, you take a short guided walk through the canyon, with views of distant mountains and cliffs along the way.
The Husafell Canyon Baths have two stone-lined geothermal pools fed by naturally warm spring water. The water is usually between 86 and 106 degrees Fahrenheit (30 and 41 degrees Celsius), a contrast to the cool mountain air.
What sets the baths apart is their secluded setting, with views of the canyon cliffs. The site was developed with sustainability in mind, using local materials and traditional techniques to preserve the natural surroundings. Changing facilities are available on site.
The day's final stop is a horse farm in Reykholt, where you meet Icelandic horses, known for their gentle nature and unique gait. You have time to interact with the horses, take photos, and learn more about the breed.
After your time at the farm, you board the minibus for the drive back to Reykjavik, arriving in the early evening.
