Get ready for an unforgettable three-hour snorkeling tour in the Silfra Fissure, named one of the world’s top ten diving spots by National Geographic. Those keen for a once-in-a-lifetime experience should book this small-group tour now.

The Silfra Fissure is in Thingvellir National Park, West Iceland, just 33.5 miles (53.9 kilometers) from Reykjavik. Loved by diving and snorkeling enthusiasts alike, this is an experience you won’t find anywhere else. It is the only place you can float between two tectonic plates in unbelievably clear glacier water.

Your tour starts from the Silfra Diving parking lot. You can reach the start point from parking lot number five (P5) in Thingvellir National Park. Your PADI-certified instructor will equip you with a toasty-warm drysuit, undersuit, and the snorkeling equipment you need for the adventure ahead.

The water here is probably the most transparent you will ever see, where you can expect 109 yards (100 meters) of visibility when the sun is out. Water from the Langjokull glacier fills it, repeatedly filtered as it slowly enters the fissure.

Drink directly from it if you wish, and marvel at the beautiful blue expanse surrounding you. You might even be lucky enough to see rainbows on the underwater floor, depending on the weather.

There are often a few fish in the fissure, particularly in summer, but the main appeal of this adventure is the amazing underwater vistas.

It is a surreal experience, drifting over to the North American tectonic plate on one side and the Eurasian plate on the other. Doing so is possible only because the continents have slowly drifted apart.

Let the gentle current carry you along throughout this easy-level experience, allowing you to conserve plenty of energy to relax and enjoy the sparkling underwater world.

Caves in the Silfra Fissure can reach 197 feet (60 meters) deep. Divers usually explore from 23 to 40 feet (seven to twelve meters), with a maximum allowed depth of 59 feet (18 meters). Today, you’ll be skimming the surface for a thrilling yet meditative experience.

To top off this outstanding tour, you’ll get to take home complimentary photos for lasting memories of your incredible day. A hot drink and a snack help you refuel and warm up when you get out of the water, the perfect end to your excursion.

Don’t miss this fascinating three-hour snorkeling tour in the crystal-clear glacier water of Silfra. Check availability by choosing a date.
