Jump aboard this sightseeing tour of the South Coast, complete with a glacier hike upon Sólheimajökull. This tour is perfect for those eager to see some of Iceland’s most iconic landmarks without missing out on any adventure.

This tour begins when you are picked up from your accommodation in Reykjavík city.

The main road along the South Coast is lined with beautiful features. The first you will come to is a waterfall you can walk all the way around, called Seljalandsfoss. The stream that feeds this falls comes from the notorious glacier and volcano Eyjafjallajökull, which erupted in 2010; you can see this peak on clear days. A little further along is another incredible waterfall, the wider and more powerful Skógafoss. If the weather is especially good, you should also be able to see across the ocean to the Westman Islands.

Your next stop after these waterfalls will be the glacier tongue of Sólheimajökull. Here, you will be provided with all the equipment you need to scale it, told about safety, and then led onto an exhilarating and fascinating glacier hike.

The ice-cap itself looks otherworldly, and the views from it are incredible. There are very few places in the world where ascending a glacier is so accessible; thus you will want a camera in hand to enshrine the memories that you make here.

After enjoying your time on the glacier, you will continue along the South Coast to the beautiful stretch of black sand beach called Reynisfjara. This area is renowned for its strange geology, with the enormous Dyrhólaey arch, with its hexagonal basalt columns, and the sea stacks of Reynisdrangar said to be the remains of two trolls petrified by the sun. If coming in the summer months, this area has a wealth of nesting puffins you can admire.

Once you have appreciated the beauty of this beach, you will return to the bus and enjoy the scenic drive back to Reykjavík.

Do not miss this immersive, small-group tour to the glacier and along the South Coast. Check availability by choosing a date.

This tour is amazing! They picked us up in a minibus which meant we just had a small group and that was nice because we all got to know each other a bit. Ziggy our tour guide was SO much fun he truly made the experience so much better with his jokes and Iceland facts! He also recommended other tours to book and really wanted to make sure our time in Iceland was the best it could be. If you’re nervous about the length of the tour don’t worry they make stops at gas stations to get food or use a bathroom, otherwise pack your own snacks to save some money. Bring gloves for the hike!

This tour was really nice. Our guide Vala was super. She spoke for the whole trip explaining us about Iceland story, culture, and landscape. We stayed half an hour at every stop and then walked on the glacier for almost three hours. I really reccommend this tour.

This excursion was amazing!!! My friend and I actually described it as EPIC!!! Definitely a once in a lifetime experience. Our guide, Maggie, was brilliant. She was super knowledgeable and really funny. Maggie's stories were interesting and informative; she told tales of enchanting Icelandic beliefs as well as interesting history and facts about this amazing country. There was plenty of time at each stop along the way. The waterfalls were amazing as well as the black beach and glacier hike. Definitely a must do!!

This was my favorite day of the trip. Our guide, Vala, was great.. punctual, informative, funny and took pictures for everyone. I enjoyed the glacier hike the best because it didn't feel like we were on a time constraint. I would have liked a little more time at the beach, but it was a long day an we had to her to everything else. I'd highly recommend this tour.

Absolutely extraordinary!! We had such an amazing tour guide (Maria with Troll expeditions) driving us through the south coast to the glacier. she was funny friendly and knowledgable and seriously made the experience magical!! she knew all these random quirky facts and made sure we knew as much as possible. Troll expeditions staff on the hike were also so kind friendly and fun and the glacier is surreally beautiful. Definitely recommend!

Our guide's name is Vala, she was cheerful, knowledgeable and caring throughout the whole trip. It was my first time hiking on ice and I wasn't very good at it, so she constantly asked how I was doing and helped me by even looping her arm around me or offering me to hold on to her bag while she was in front of me being protective. While this is the best example of glacier hiking because most people could walk around freely without a problem, I wanted to give special thanks to Vala for being so kind and patient! This was the best tour out of all the tours I took in Iceland. I highly recommend this tour to everyone. It was very well organized and fun!

Had a great day with Troll Expeditions and loved the waterfall and black beach. Our guide Vala provided an interesting commentary throughout. The bus was comfy and had USB sockets. Unfortunately due to wind the glacier hike was cancelled but I received a refund for that portion of the trip the next day.
