Explore the South Coast in comfort on this private tour. It suits solo travelers, couples, and small groups who want to see Iceland's nature on a private tour.
There's no waiting at bus stops, as your guide picks you up directly from your hotel in Reykjavik. You then set out in a modern vehicle for the attractions and landscapes of the South Coast.
On the way, you see rolling countryside, geothermal areas, and, in clear weather, glaciers such as Eyjafjallajokull Glacier.
Your first stop is Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, which drops 197 feet (60 meters). A large cavern opens behind it, so in dry weather, you may be able to walk all the way around it.
Next, you see Skogafoss Waterfall, which is as tall as its neighbor but far more powerful. You can see it from the bottom or climb a staircase to a viewing platform above the falls. On a sunny day, you may even see a double rainbow.
You then reach Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, with its black sand, cliffs, powerful waves, and the giant offshore basalt pillars of the Reynisdrangar Sea Stacks. Local legend says they were trolls that the sun turned to stone when they tried to pull a ship ashore.
As you walk along Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, take some photos, as it's one of the most popular black sand beaches in Iceland.
Next to Reynisfjara is the village of Vik, where you can experience Icelandic coastal culture and find refreshments.
In the summer months, your itinerary may include the huge rock arch of Dyrholaey Peninsula, which is known in this season for its large puffin colony. The puffins have little fear of people, so you may get close enough for good photos.
After this, or if you travel in winter, you begin your relaxed journey back to Reykjavik, keeping an eye on the sky for the northern lights.
