Description

Join this tour for a leisurely trip down the beautiful south coast, travelling all the way to the might glacier, Sólheimajökull. This tour is for anyone who wants to explore the natural environment, take in the countryside and do something more low-key after days of hiking and ice climbing.

This day tour down the intrepid south coast of Iceland will take you to some of Iceland’s most well-known locations. You’ll be picked up at your designated pickup location in the capital, Reykjavík and glide down the coast, across fields of wildflowers and purple lupine, fluffy sheep and chubby horses playing in the grass.

Sólheimajökull glacier is next on the journey. You can see up close and personal the ice sculptures, ridges and crevasses which make the glacier so extraordinary. Finally, you’ll have a chance to enjoy lunch in nearby Vík, a small town with a beach, cafes and handicrafts shops, tempting visitors to buy a personalised souvenir.

On the way back to Reykjavík, you’ll visit the black beach called Reynisfjara, marked by black basalt columns along the cliffs which stand tall and domineering against the rolling ocean waves.

Lastly, you’ll admire the cliffs dotting the green hills, decorated with waterfalls such as the famous Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. Seljalandsfoss has a walking path which takes you behind the falls to look out over the valley. Skógafoss has been featured in several films and is known for its rainbows and refreshing mists. It is said that one of the earliest settlers of Iceland buried a treasure chest behind the waterfall!

Grab this opportunity to join one of the most popular tours in Iceland and you too can experience the incredible breadth of beauty waiting for you along the south coast. Check the booking availability by choosing a date.

What to bring

Warm clothing and outerwear suited to rainy or chilly weather (waterproof recommended)
Sturdy shoes for walking/hiking

Good to know

Weather in Iceland changes quickly, so don't be caught unawares. It is better to wear a sweater or dress in layers which you can remove if you become too warm. Jeans are not recommended because denim spreads moisture quickly and takes a long time to dry, leaving the wearer extremely cold if they get wet.
