Explore Iceland's best-known sightseeing route and visit extra sights on this full-day private Golden Circle tour from Reykjavik in an electric car.

From Reykjavik, you head into the countryside, with views of farms, old churches, and mountains along the way.
Standard Golden Circle tours visit three main attractions, but there are other sights along the way. This tour stops at some of them too.
First, you stop at Kerid Crater, a volcanic crater about 6,500 years old. A short walk takes you to the rim, with views of the crater lake and its turquoise water.
The next stop is a local greenhouse farm that uses geothermal energy and modern horticulture to grow fresh produce. You can taste some of the produce here and learn about rural life in Iceland.
Then you continue to the Golden Circle.
First is the Geysir Geothermal Area, home to the Great Geysir, the first geyser known to Europeans. Today it is mostly dormant, but Strokkur Geyser erupts every 4 to 16 minutes.
Around the geothermal area, you can see boiling mud pits and steaming fumaroles while you wait for Strokkur Geyser to erupt.
Next, you visit Gullfoss Waterfall, also called the Golden Falls, where the Hvita River drops 105 feet (32 meters) in two tiers into a canyon. On sunny days, you can often see a rainbow in front of the waterfall.
The final stop is Thingvellir National Park, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates drift apart by about 0.8 inches (2 centimeters) each year.
Thingvellir also holds a special place in Icelandic history. Iceland's parliament, the Althing, was founded here in 930 AD and is one of the oldest parliaments in the world.
At the end of the day, your driver takes you back to your accommodation in Reykjavik.
