The day starts with a horseback ride at a riding stable near Reykjavik.
At the stable, you meet the Icelandic horses and learn about this hardy breed, known for its two special gaits, the tolt and the flying pace.
Your guide explains how to ride safely and helps you with your gear.
Then you mount your horse and ride through lava fields and rolling hills, to places you can't reach by car.
Back at the stable, you get a hot drink and a chance to say goodbye to your horse.
Next, you head to the Old Harbor in Reykjavik for whale watching. If you booked hotel pickup, drop-off at the ticket office is included. The boat sails at 1:00 p.m. into Faxafloi Bay, with the city skyline and mountains behind you.
The four species seen most often in the bay are minke whales, humpback whales, white-beaked dolphins, and harbor porpoises. Your guide tells you about the wildlife and the surroundings.
