Ring Road Cars is an owner-run rental company at Bogatröð 1 in Reykjanesbær, about 10 minutes from Keflavík Airport. It's the new name of an Icelandic rental company registered in 2014.
There's no desk in the terminal. Once you have your bags, you call or message the company, and the shuttle picks you up at a meeting point outside the arrivals hall, marked with the Ring Road Cars sign. The office is open 04:00 to 20:00 every day, so early arrivals are covered. Hours are shorter on 24 and 31 December, and it's closed on 25 December and 1 January. Pickups outside opening hours cost extra and must be agreed in advance.
The fleet runs from small cars like the Toyota Aygo X and Hyundai i20 to 4x4s such as the Dacia Duster, Suzuki Vitara and Toyota Land Cruiser, plus a nine-seat Renault Trafic. Every rental includes basic collision and theft cover, unlimited mileage and winter tyres from 1 November to 14 April. There's no deposit: the excess is held on your card and released after the return.

Through Guide to Iceland, we rented a car for 10 days from a certain rental company. Shortly before our departure, we were informed that they had to change the provider, and so we received the car from Auto Car Rental company. Everything went completely smoothly and exactly as agreed: from pick-up to drop-off. The car, a Dacia Duster, was in very good condition. We appreciated that there was no unnecessary hassle and that everything was handled quickly. We were very satisfied with Auto Car Rental and would definitely recommend them for car rentals in Iceland.

The pick up process was well prepared and it literally took us less than 10 minutes to get the keys. The person at the desk was very helpful. The car we had booked was a Dacia Duster but we got upgraded to a Kia Sportage, at no extra charge, that was in mint conditions (very clean and only 20 000km). The drop off of key on the return was also very simple. We highly recommend Drive2 car rental in Iceland
