Guide to Iceland

We had a wonderful time in Iceland. The accommodations were all charming and comfortable, the included breakfasts at each location were awesome, and the itinerary was easy to follow. I would have appreciated more information about some of the sites (like how long a walk to the waterfalls and how difficult), but we were able to look most of it up on the internet. My one beef was with a tour I booked for Day 6. It was supposed to be a whale and puffin rib boat tour in Husavik, but ended up just being a large whale-watching boat...not a rib boat. We didn't get anywhere close to the puffins. I ended up booking a rib boat tour the next day in Reykjavik which was what I was looking for. I would suggest waiting to book this type of tour when you get there so that you get what you want. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time!

Everything went according to plan. Picking up the car went smoothly and we hit the road with our plans. The accommodations were fine, the first was a true Icelandic experience and we opted for a delicious meal at the guesthouse. The second accommodation was pretty far out there from the last viewing stop but it was pretty and a pretty drive. All in all, I would definitely recommend and do it again!

Insgesamt hatten wir eine unglaublich tolle Reise durch Island und ich würde jederzeit wieder mit Guide to Iceland buchen. Die bereitgestellten Reiseunterlagen waren klasse und sehr ausführlich. Vom Abholen des Mietwagens über die Hotelbuchungen bis zu einzelnen Touren hat alles reibungslos geklappt. Auch die Kommunikation im Vorfeld bei Fragen ist super und sehr serviceorientiert. Wir haben uns zu jeder Zeit gut aufgehoben gefühlt. Ich empfehle auf jeden Fall einen Mietwagen mit 4x4 Antrieb zu nehmen. Dann braucht man sich über die Straßen in Island keine Gedanken zu machen und man kommt überall problemlos hin. Einziger kleiner Minuspunkt waren für uns ein zwei Hotels, in denen wir übernachtet haben, da sie nicht unbedingt unserer Vorstellung eines Mittelklasse Hotels entsprachen und schon sehr in die Jahre gekommen schienen.
