Jadar Farm is situated in Baer, outside the town of Borgarnes, the largest settlement in Borgarfjordur, a fjord in southwestern Iceland. The fjord covers the coastal land between Iceland’s capital, Reykjavik, and the Snaefellsnes Peninsula.

There are gorgeous views of the surrounding areas right from the cottage, and you might even get a glimpse of the aurora borealis when they appear.

There are several hiking routes nearby, and Jadar Farm is just a stone’s throw away from some of the best-known tourist attractions in Iceland, including Hvanneyri, Deildartunguhver, Reykolt, Hraunfossar, and Husafell.

Husafell is around 21.1 miles (34 kilometers) away from the house, and here you’ll find some of the most beautiful natural features in Iceland. Two of these include the waterfalls Hraunfossar and Barnafoss, a contrasting pair of spectacular lava falls.

If you’re into fishing, there are several salmon rivers within a short distance of the cottage. If swimming’s more your thing, then head to the pool at Kleppjarnsreykir, which is just over 7 miles (12 kilometers) away.

For more sports, head to the golf courses. There’s one nearby in the town of Borgarnes, and you can head further afield to Nes in Reykholtsdalur, which is around 10 miles (16 kilometers) away.

There is enough space for five people to stay at Jadar Farm with two double bedrooms and then a bed for one in the living room.

There’s a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher here so you can make family meals after a busy day of adventures. There’s also a seating area and flatscreen TV for movie nights or Netflix binges.

Outside there’s a charcoal grill to enjoy al fresco dining when the weather is fine. There’s also a hot tub where you can relax while you enjoy views of the surrounding scenery and perhaps even the northern lights on a clear night.
