Description
The GreenHouse Hotel is a beautiful hotel in the geothermal town of Hveragerdi in south Iceland. Travellers who want to experience volcanic forces up close, from a stylish base with all amenities, will find this to be the perfect accommodation.
Location & Nearby
The GreenHouse Hotel is located in the Hveragerði area of South Iceland. Selfoss is about 14 km away by road and Kerið about 24 km. The GreenHouse Hotel is located just 45 minutes from Reykjavik in the town of Hveragerdi. This town not only has tourist centres, grocery stores and other services travellers may require, but it is a hotbed of geothermal activity. Many greenhouses harvest this for energy; the local restaurants and bakeries use it for cooking; and there are natural hot springs to bathe in just a short hike away.
The Reykjadalur thermal river is the best place to do this, and it takes just an hour of hiking to reach.
Hveragerdi is also a great base from which to explore the sites of the Golden Circle and South Coast. The nearest attraction of the former is the majestic Thingvellir National Park, from which you can continue to the Geysir Geothermal Area and Geysir waterfall; it takes only 50 minutes to reach by car. Seljalandsfoss waterfall, meanwhile, the first main feature of the South Coast, can be accessed in just over an hour.
Facilities & Amenities
The GreenHouse Hotel offers modern, spacious double and twin rooms, all of which have flat-screen televisions, desks, access to free and fast Wifi, and en suite bathrooms with geothermal showers and hair dryers. There are also larger suites available, with a double bedroom and cosy living area.
Furthermore, there is a 24-hour desk and concierge services. The hotel sits above a food hall (Mathöll Suðurlands) with several restaurants (tacos, Asian, pizza, fish), a gelato shop, cafe and cocktail bar, plus designer shops and a farmers market. Free parking is available on site.
