Summary
Description
Eyvindarholt Guesthouse provides gorgeous apartments in a natural corner of the Greater Reykjavik Area, overlooking the ocean and boasting plentiful amenities. Couples and families should book their stay here while availability lasts.
Location & Nearby
The quaint Eyvindarholt Guesthouse is a beautiful place to stay in the town of Gardabaer on the outskirts of Reykjavik. You can find all the services you need in this area, as it has plenty of grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, and bars. Some tour operators will be able to pick you up from here for excursions such as snorkeling, rafting, glacier hiking, and lava caving.
If you want to get to the downtown area, it is just 9 miles (14 kilometers) away. Even if you aren’t driving, you can easily access it by bus, as many stops are in the area.
Those who rent a car will find it easy to access the many sites of southwest Iceland within a day. The guesthouse is closer to the landmarks of the Reykjanes Peninsula than those staying in Reykjavik’s center. The Blue Lagoon, for example, is only 28 miles (45 kilometers) away, and Keflavik International Airport is 26 miles (46 kilometers).
The Reykjanes Peninsula is a volcanic wonderland that begs to be explored. You can find stunning lakes such as Kleifarvatn, geothermal areas such as Krysuvik, and natural marvels such as the new lava at Fagradalsfjall volcano.
You’ll find it easy to drive to other famous sightseeing routes. Thingvellir National Park is part of the Golden Circle trail and is 36 miles (54 kilometers) from the hotel. From here, you’ll continue to the Geysir Geothermal Area and Gullfoss waterfall and can detour to lesser-known attractions such as the Kerid crater lake, Secret Lagoon, and Fontana Spa.
Meanwhile, the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, a region named ‘Iceland in Miniature’ due to its abundance of various sites, is 80 miles (128 kilometers) away. Here, you can discover a mighty subglacial volcano, dramatic geological features, bountiful wildlife, and remote fishing villages.
Seljalandsfoss waterfall is the first significant site on the South Coast route, and only slightly further, 82 miles (132 kilometers) from the accommodation. The following features of this trail are Skogafoss waterfall, Reynisfjara black sand beach, Dyrholaey rock arch, and the magical Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon.
Facilities & Amenities
There are three choices of accommodation at the Eyvindarholt Guesthouse. One apartment boasts stunning views of the sea and mountains and has room for three over one double bed and one single bed. Meanwhile, the deluxe apartment has views over the landscape, a lovely fireplace, and can accommodate three, with one double room and a sofa bed. The studio apartment is perfect for a couple on a romantic getaway or solo travelers looking for a cozy escape.
The style of all the apartments is modern, bright, and chic. They have spacious, comfortable living areas, private bathrooms, and free WiFi and parking. Each morning, breakfast is provided with ingredients grown at an adjacent greenhouse, and the kitchen is shared.
On-site, you can rent bicycles to enjoy the nearby nature and birdwatching trails. It is also right by a park with a children’s play area.
