The cottage sits on a small family farm in the center of Dalvik town. Dalvik is within the shadows of the Troll Peninsula, a region known for Iceland’s tallest mountains outside the Highlands. 

In this part of Iceland, sharp peaks rise dramatically above the land and roll into the waters of Eyjafjordur Fjord. Wherever you look, you’re surrounded by sweeping, majestic views.

Even though you are surrounded by mountains and nature, you are only steps away from supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, and even museums. 

From Dalvik Vegamot Cottages, adventure is never far away. The ferry terminal to Grimsey Island is only 0.28 miles (450 meters) from the farm. A trip there takes you across the Arctic Circle, where puffins and wild sea views await.

You can also visit Hrisey, known as the Pearl of Eyjafjordur, with its colorful houses, birdlife, and hiking trails. To reach it, catch the ferry in Arskogssandur, 8 miles (12.8 kilometers) away from your doorstep.

In Arskogssandur, you can visit Bruggsmidjan Kaldi, Iceland’s first craft brewery. Take a tour or simply enjoy a pint for a memorable taste of North Iceland. 

The Dalvik Ski Area, just 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) away, welcomes skiers from December to May. For hiking, the Kofi Trail begins only 0.4 miles (650 m) from your doorstep and rewards you with sweeping mountain views. The public swimming pool is just 0.6 miles (1 kilometer) down the road.

Facilities & Amenities

This property is one of three small cottages on the farm. It is cozy and well-equipped for up to three people (or four if you are traveling with kids). Inside, you’ll find a private toilet, a small terrace, and your own kitchenette. The kitchenette is complete with a refrigerator, coffee machine, kitchenware, electric kettle, stovetop, toaster, and a dining table. 

If you don’t feel like cooking, you don’t have to go far. The family runs a cozy cafe right on the farm where you can enjoy their famous fish soup with homemade bread, made using local Kaldi beer. They also serve coffee, cakes, and a selection of alcoholic drinks, so you can relax and enjoy a meal without leaving the property.

Towels, a hairdryer, and toilet paper are also provided. Please note there is no shower inside the cottage, but you can use the outdoor shower next to the hot tub and sauna, or the showers at the nearby hostel on the property.

Step outside and you’ll have views of the mountains and the garden. Enjoy your morning coffee on the porch, breathe in the fresh air, and soak up the peaceful farm atmosphere. A shared hot tub and sauna are also available on the property, giving you the chance to unwind after a day of exploring North Iceland.
