Frequently asked questions

How do I get to Dalvik?

Dalvik is a small town located on the eastern side of the Trollaskagi peninsula. The easiest way to get there is by car, heading north towards Akureyri. Coming on Þjóðvegur - Icelandic route number 1, about 10 kilometres before Akureyri, you have to turn onto route number 82, which will take you straight to Dalvik. You can also fly to Akureyri by plane and rent a car on-site, or when you reach Akureyri, catch a bus or taxi to Dalvik.

How many options are there for cottages in Dalvik?

There are not many accommodation options in Dalvik, but there are several places nearby where you can spend your time during a trip around Iceland. The offer of available cottages is not as large as close to Akureyri, but if you start looking early enough, you'll find a comfortable property for yourself and your loved ones.

How cheap are cottages in Dalvik?

Prices for cottages in Dalvik vary considerably depending on the season when you want to visit Iceland. In the summer, when most tourists visit Iceland, prices are quite high. From October, they begin to fall to jump again for a moment at the end of the year. Prices are lower back between January and April. We recommend booking in advance to get the best price.

Do the cottages in Dalvik have facilities suitable for the whole family?

Most cottages in Dalvik have facilities for the whole family or a large group of people. The cabins sometimes offer several bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, free parking, and free WiFi, a flat-screen TV, dishwasher, and fridge.

Why stay in a cabin instead of a guesthouse when visiting Dalvik?

When renting accommodation in a guesthouse in small towns in Iceland, you must remember that you will often have to share the bathroom and kitchen with other guests. If you decide to spend the night in a cabin, you will get the possibility of using a private bathroom, kitchen, and free parking. Also, you will be able to spend time in comfortable conditions, often away from other people.
