Location & Nearby

Located on the west coast of Heimaey, looking over the ocean, the Luxury Ocean Villa has a fantastic position. You can immediately embark on hikes along the beautiful shore from the front doors. Behind the house, you’ll find the town where you can easily walk to grocery stores, restaurants, and cafes.

The main attractions of the only populated island on the Westman Islands are also nearby. The Sea Life Trust Beluga Whale Sanctuary, a favorite amongst animal-lovers, is just over a mile (two kilometers) away. Here, you can meet injured puffins on their road to recovery, learn about wildlife preservation in Iceland, and even see the rescued Belugas swimming through the enormous, protected bay by the center.

Around two miles (three kilometers) east, you can reach the Eldfell volcano. Having erupted in the town center in 1973, it is now a dramatic crater that rises over the new settlement. Avid hikers will enjoy the trek around its circumference and the incredible views to which this journey leads.

At the foot of the volcano is the fascinating Eldheimar museum. Here, you can learn how all but one of those living on Heimaey managed to survive the disaster and how rescue forces and NATO troops stopped the lava destroying the settlement and harbor.

If staying at the Luxury Ocean Villa in summer, you’ll be able to head to the island cliffs to marvel over the world’s largest colony of Atlantic puffins. These gorgeous creatures have little fear of people, allowing you got approach surprisingly close. You can also book puffin-watching tours from the town harbor, some of which have whale-watching components, and some of which visit geological marvels such as the Elephant Rock.

To get to the villa and the Westman Islands, you have to take a domestic flight or the ferry from the town of Landeyarhofn in South Iceland, which can carry your car. Landeyarhofn is just 85 miles (137 kilometers) from Reykjavik.

The Luxury Ocean Villa is a four-bedroom house that can accommodate ten people. The first bedroom has an extra-large double bed, the second has a double and a single, the third has three singles, and the fourth has two singles. All are chic, modern, and luxurious, with lovely views, storage space, and free WiFi.

The living area has comfortable sofas and a flat-screen television, and the fully equipped kitchen has plenty of space. There is a large dining room and a beautiful patio with sea views.
