You will enter the wondrous worlds of glacial geology by taking a small hike along a landscape shaped through the centuries by glaciers. Towering high above Sólheimajökull glacier tongue is the mighty Mýrdalsjökull, under which the active volcano, Katla, is located. Solheimajökull glacier has added to its charm in recent years with a glacial lagoon at its foot that will surely impress you. As you reach the foot of the glacier, our guide will give you a thorough introduction into how to use your glacier equipment.
You will then start the glacier hike through a majestic ice wonderland where you can find crevasses, ridges, ice walls and even glacier moulins. Our guide and you will set out to find a wall suitable for climbing. The glaciers are always moving, creating new shapes and pathways, always full of surprises.
