Witness one of the world's most wild firework displays, and enjoy this New Years Eve celebration in Reykjavík.

In Iceland, we like to give the passing year a grand send-off in flames. Not only do we gather around massive bonfires (a Nordic custom dating back to our earliest days), but we also like to set the heavens ablaze with an enormous firework show that spans the entire city skyline. Fire on the ground and fire in the sky: it really is quite a tremendous way to mark the end of the old year and the beginning of the new.

If you’re here at this magical time, you can’t help but feel the anticipation in the air. Thankfully, this tour will provide you with hosts to guide you through what is without a doubt the most spectacular night of the year in Reykjavík. Considering the many music festivals, annual parties and cultural events hosted here, that's really saying something.

On this Bonfire and Fireworks tour, you will experience the beloved Icelandic New Year’s Eve traditions. Both the family-friendly atmosphere and the bonfire will warm you as you sing songs (or hum if you don’t know the words), bidding farewell to the old year and preparing to welcome in the new.

By the time midnight draws near you'll have found the perfect spot for you to enjoy the a fireworks display, which occurs like no other. There is not just one fireworks show put on by the city; instead, in Iceland everyone sets off those that they have been collecting the past weeks, to make a manic, long-lasting show.

Your guides will tell you all about the history and folklore of the tradition, and provide you with a glass of sparkling delight in hand.

Start your year on the right foot with this guided tour of the best night in Iceland. Check availability by choosing a date.
