Description

Enjoy an unforgettable adventure in the heart of Vatnajokull National Park with this thrilling small-group canyoning tour. Adrenaline seekers who want to explore the largest national park in Iceland while abseiling, climbing, swimming in glacial rivers, and hiking will love this action-packed half-day tour.

The excursion starts at the Haukafell Campground in Southeast Iceland. You’ll meet your expert local guides for the day. The group will have a maximum of eight participants, but there will be two guides for each group. This means you’ll be able to ask questions any time and enjoy a more hands-on experience.

At the meeting point, the guides will give the group a safety briefing and explain the plan for the day. You’ll also receive all the necessary equipment for a day of canyoning. They’ll provide wetsuits, harnesses, neoprene boots, gloves, and helmets for safety and comfort.

Although your guide provides all the necessary climbing equipment, you should bring a towel, a swimsuit to wear under the wetsuit, good hiking socks, and dry clothes to change into after the tour. It’s also a good idea to bring a waterproof phone or camera case to protect your gadgets. That way, you can get some great photos during the trip.

Once you’re geared up and ready to go, you’ll start with a short hike in Vatnajokull National Park. The park is home to incredible sights, including glaciers, ice caves, mountain ranges, and waterfalls. Taking part in a canyoning tour is a great way to experience the park’s beauty — jumping into pools, abseiling over cliffs and waterfalls, and wading through rivers.

Guests on this tour will spend the day passing over uneven trails and moving around in the water, so you need to have a reasonable fitness level to participate. There’s also a minimum age of 12.

However, it doesn’t matter if you’re new to canyoning. The guides will teach you everything you need for an enjoyable day and will always be available to help you. You’ll start by practicing smaller rappels before progressing to more challenging routes as the day continues.

After a fantastic few hours of canyoning in Vatnajokull National Park, the group will head back to the meeting point to return the equipment and change into dry clothes. Finally, you’ll enjoy a warming hot chocolate and a traditional Icelandic snack as you reflect on your canyoning experience.

Don’t miss your chance to participate in a thrilling small-group canyoning tour in Vatnajokull National Park. Check availability now by choosing a date.
