Description

Swim and take underwater photos in glacial waters between two continents, then slow down and dip in calm hot springs, by booking this incredible three-hour Silfra snorkeling tour with admission to the Sky Lagoon. This trip gives you the best of adventure and relaxation that only Iceland can offer.

You’ll begin your day in Thingvellir National Park, where you’ll be meeting your snorkeling guide. This area sits right on top of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, where tectonic plates are moving apart to create the Silfra fissure that you’ll explore on this trip.

Your guide will brief you on the equipment you’ll need to use while also giving you the basics of snorkeling to ensure you’re safe and comfortable in the water. You also have the option to rent a camera to take photos underwater.

The water will be frigid, so bringing warm clothes to use during and after the dive is essential. For the diving suit, you can choose a dry suit to stay warm and on the surface or a wetsuit that lets you freedive into the water to see the underwater features up close.

If you’re unsure what suit to use, your guide can tell you more and help you decide. Once you’re ready to go, you’ll step into the cold waters to begin your snorkeling adventure.

The Silfra fissure is a rift created by the pulling apart of tectonic plates and contains glacial water from the Langjokull glacier. This glacial flow was filtered for decades through thick lava fields before ending up in Silfra, making the waters exceptionally clear and letting you see the beautiful wonders underneath.

Once you lower your head beneath the surface, a vivid crystal-blue filter will wash over the canyons and rock formations. On sunny days, the rays of the Sun can also refract and cast rainbows on the fissure bed, creating an unforgettably colorful display.

While exploring this sub-aquatic paradise, your guide can help you take photos to capture the unique beauty from under the water. After having your fill, you’ll exit the fissure and rest with some hot chocolate before you move to your next destination.

To round out your journey, you’ll visit the Sky Lagoon's warm and peaceful springs in Reykjavik for some wellness and relaxation. You’ll take part in the spa’s Skjol bathing ritual, a tradition in Icelandic culture, to get the best calming and rejuvenation experience.

Don’t miss this unique journey to experience Iceland’s waters in this ultimate cold and hot adventure. Check availability now by choosing a date.
