Description

Take flight over the lunar landscapes of the Reykjanes peninsula and see the petrified lava fields from past eruptions on this breathtaking helicopter excursion. If you want to see Iceland’s nature at its most stark and beautiful but don’t want to miss a second of adventure, then this is the tour for you!

This excursion begins when you meet your pilot at the departure point by Reykjavik Domestic Airport. They will give you a briefing on your route before taking you to your sleek helicopter, where you’ll hop on, buckle up, and take off.

Reykjavik is beautiful from street level, but to see it from above, with its brightly colored tin roofs, feats of modern architecture, and incredible surrounding nature, is a unique privilege few get to experience.

After capturing the sights of Hallgrimskirkja church, Harpa Concert Hall, Faxafloi Bay, and Mount Esja, the chopper will turn to the West, and you will begin your exploration of the Reykjanes peninsula.

The raw volcanism of this barren, otherworldly region can only be truly appreciated from above. On this tour, you will get to see the aftermath of the latest eruption, which ended in December 2024.

You will also witness countless craters pass beneath you, interrupting the desolate landscape of endless lava fields. You will see steam rising from seething geothermal areas, and you’ll soar over the craggy, dramatic coastline, weathered by the constant beating of the Atlantic Ocean.

The Reykjanes peninsula is home to many of Iceland’s natural wonders. You will catch sight of the lakes Kleifarvatn, wide and serene, and Graenavatn, small and azure, and the large and mystic geothermal area of Gunnuhver. You will even fly above the world-famous Blue Lagoon.

After an hour or so, you will return to Reykjavik and soar through the air to the Domestic Airport. You will disembark with a camera full of photographs, your mind full of memories, and your veins still pumping with adrenaline.

Soar above the beautiful city of Reykjavik to reach the otherworldly Reykjanes peninsula's latest lava fields by booking your helicopter adventure now. Check availability by choosing a date.
