The day begins in Reykjavík or at the Keflavík International Airport, when your driver and guide will pick you up. From there, everything is down to you. Eight hours is enough time to explore sites throughout Iceland’s south and west, and you could even have access to the Highlands.

For example, it is possible to head to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, one of the highlights of west Iceland. It is renowned for its wealth of sites, being home to waterfalls, mountains, hot spring areas, craggy coastlines, and of course, the mighty glacier and National Park, Snæfellsjökull.

In summer, you could elect to see these sites only from the road, as you head further into the Landmannalaugar highland region for incredible hiking and hot-spring-bathing opportunities.

The Golden Circle is also a possibility; you can see all three major sites of Þingvellir, Gullfoss and Geysir, as well as lesser-known nearby destinations such as Kerið crater, with time to spare.

On many of these journeys, you will be able to opt for tours, like snorkeling in Silfra or glacier hiking on Sólheimajökull, and your guide will continue with your travels when you are done.
